Contractors may write own nuclear site rules
This is like terrorists guarding airports.

AP: "The Bush administration is looking at waiving some current government safety requirements at federal nuclear facilities if contractors don't like them - after Congress directed it to start fining contractors for violations.

Critics contend that long-established government standards at more than two dozen Energy Department nuclear weapons plants and research labs could become unenforceable under the proposal. Energy Department officials say the intent is to give contractors more flexibility without compromising safety.

Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., an author of the 2002 legislation ordering the fines, accused the administration this week of distorting Congress' intent with a plan that "will likely decrease worker protection."

2. DOE's aim to re-start fast breeder reactors is what needs press attention.
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 10:26 AM by Just Me
The DOE is pursuing two programs called Generation IV and the Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative that will assist non-nuclear weapons nations to develop the capacity to create huge quantities of materials usable in nuclear weapons by sharing technology associated with fast breeder reactors. Moreover, what's even more astonishing is that these reactors have proven to be extremely wasteful economically (we are talking billions of wasted dollars in past endeavors which have been essentially condemned by our past leaderships for the last 30 years).

In attempting to ascertain "why" the DOE would pursue this insanity, I continue to arrive at very sinister conclusions.

For a fairly concise article on this concerning development, see

4. DOE's Nuke weapon sites have done this for years
I used to be on a DOE inspection team that went to the DOE Defense System sites (where they make the Nuke warheads or nuke material for warheads). The standards we had to inspect with were written by a committee composed of the contractors from each of the sites. And after the inspections, the site contractor would review the findings to ensure that they complied to the standards.

7. Why don't we just let ...
criminals determine their own Innocence/Guilt.

Isn't this the same thing as the Eron accounting scandal. Auditors from the same accounting firm auditing their own accounting.

Seesh.

Cheers

12. The BFEE is doing everything it can
to destabilize this nation. This all fits in well with the overall PNAC plan to dominate the world, starting in our own backyard. When our economy, safety and overall general stability becomes decimated to the point of returning only through total restructuring, the BFEE will have done its job well. This year, Should the WH be stolen again, our nation could be brought to that point, and the BFEE will push even harder to make US citizens subjugate to national restructuring toward smaller government. The result will be laying the onus of any recovery on bankrupted states which will become wholly dependent upon the leaders to make all decisions.

GET THOSE THUGS OUT OF OUR GOVERNMENT!
Anyone but Bush in 2004!
Go Dems!
