Bloomberg said Wednesday that instead of being front-and-center at Madison Square Garden with President Bush, he will be on the front lines with police. The city expects large anti-Bush protests during the four-day convention that begins Aug. 30.
``I'm told the mayor traditionally gives a welcome speech and I would be thrilled to do that,'' Bloomberg said Wednesday when asked about his convention role during an interview on WNYC-FM. ``After that, I'm not a particularly political guy. I'll be spending the convention outside with the police to make sure that protesters have the ability to protest, but they don't disrupt the lives of others.''
The mayor added: ``I'm going to do what I can to make this city a showcase for the world.''
In other words….stay out of Giuliani’s way…it’s going to be his show…
