Iraqi police officials said Tuesday at least 51 people were killed in a car bombing in a mainly Shiite section of Baghdad.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to release the information, said 75 people were wounded in the attack in the northern neighborhood of Hurriyah.

Witnesses said the car that exploded was parked near a two-story building with shops on the bottom floor and residential apartments on top.

Earlier, officials said 12 people had died. One police officer says the death toll spiked after authorities extinguished the fire that had engulfed the building and found more bodies inside.

3. Someone forgot to tell the bomber Iraq had reached another turning point
No doubt their lack of knowledge was related to their not having electricity with which to watch their television. Bummer.
