1. Great way to end the primaries...
It wouldn't look nice for him to lose both MT and SD.

2. Thank you, Montana. Eat it, South Dakota. You people suck.
From a disappointed former resident.

4. And the good news...
South Dakota was a "closed" primary, registered Democrats only. Montana's was an "open" primary, with no requisite for partisan registration to vote in a primary election. So why is this good news? Because Obama's apparent 20% margin in Montana is largely because of crossover indies and GOP voters who could have voted for Hillary but chose Obama instead. This speaks well to Obama's ability to draw support from beyond what's been considered the traditional Democratic "base".

8. Oregon was closed
I still don't understand the difference. Unless they're sick of Tom Daschle and rejected Obama because of the connection.

11. Explanation: Oregon has Portland & Eugene
Dark blue urban area that heavily supported Obama as did most other urban areas in other states. Demographically, the rest of the state of Oregon resembles South Dakota, with Oregon's rural counties going for Hillary by a similar margin. I don't think South Dakota Democrats are tired of Daschle any more than Massachusetts Democrats are tired of Sens. Kennendy and Kerry -- both campaigned for Obama and then their state went comfortably for Clinton. Montana and South Dakota are more similar than different, and Montana's open primary bringing in more non-Democratic votes for Obama than Hillary received seems like a logical factor in his comfortable margin of victory there. If it had gone the other way -- had Hillary actually won Montana by a larger margin than in South Dakota, it would have been attributed to crossover vote. But she didn't, and Obama did. And that's good sign that Obama's ability to bring in votes from across the political spectrum will translate to the general election, particularly in certain traditionally "red" states such as Montana (and Colorado, Virginia, Nevada, and others) that may in effect become a new set of swing states this year.

7. I'm an obama supporter who really resents this kind of comment.
It's too bad you don't have as much class as Obama did tonight. He thanked his supporters in South Dakota, as well as Hillary's supporters, and I do believe that he did so without a hint or glimmer of sarcasm.

Thank you Obama for not stooping as some of my fellow supporters do.

13. I say that a lot with people I know.
I don't send it out to a whole half of South Dakota and our allies.
