4. In tribute:
I walked 47 miles of barbed wire,
Used a cobra snake for a neck tie.
Got a brand new house on the roadside,
Made out of rattlesnake hide.
I got a brand new chimney made on top,
Made out of human skulls.
Now come on darling let's take a little walk, tell me,
Who do you love,
Who do you love, Who do you love, Who do you love.

Arlene took me by the hand,
And said oooh eeeh daddy I understand.
Who do you love,
Who do you love, Who do you love, Who do you love.
The night was black and the night was blue,
And around the corner an ice wagon flew.
A bump was a hittin' lord and somebody screamed,
You should have heard just what I seen.
Who do you love, Who do you love, Who do you love, Who do you love.

Arleen took me by my hand, she said Ooo-ee Bo you know I understand
I got a tombstone hand and a graveyard mind,
I lived long enough and I ain't scared of dying.

Who do you love (4x's)

:toast:

RIP, Ellas.

21. At Boy Scout camp in the 60's
we used to sing "Heyyyyy, Bo Diddley" far into the night. One guy used a card table as a drum; beat the living crap out of it - and we all just yelled as loud as we could.

Our goal, of course, was to keep the entire camp awake as long as possible.

But I cannot think of Bo Diddley without going

'Farmer Brown had a big old cow -
....Heeyy, Bo Diddley (bang, bang, thump thump)
Milked her 'til she was running dry
....Heeyy, Bo Diddley (bang, bang, thump thump)

Fortunately, I don't remember the rest.

RIP, Bo.

We sure did.

Great live concerts.

One of my favorite LPs is a Chess issued jam session (mid-60s)featuring Bo, Muddy Waters, and Little Walter. A real gem.

23. Bo Diddley is a communist!
A card-carrying member of the international communist conspiracy! Chiang Kai-shek takes his orders from Bo Diddley!

That's the title and lyrics from a great Eugene Chadbourne song - a tribute to Bo, believe it or not - which uses that great Diddley guitar chug as a backing track.

RIP Bo.

The legendary singer and performer, known for his homemade square guitar, dark glasses and black hat, was an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, had a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, and received a lifetime achievement award in 1999 at the Grammy Awards. In recent years he also played for the elder President Bush and President Clinton.

Diddley appreciated the honors he received, "but it didn't put no figures in my checkbook."
"If you ain't got no money, ain't nobody calls you honey," he quipped.

The whole chunk chunk chunk a chunk chunk thing and how he and Chuck Berry and Little Richard and Louis Jordan took blues and country and jazz and made it rock.

My boy then went downstairs, plugged in his guitar and went chunk chunk chunk a chunk chunk.....so Bo lives on.......

47. Rock pioneer Bo Diddley dies at age 79
Source: Associated Press

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Bo Diddley, a founding father of rock 'n' roll whose distinctive "shave and a haircut, two bits" rhythm and innovative guitar effects inspired legions of other musicians, died Monday after months of ill health. He was 79.

Diddley died of heart failure at his home in Archer, Fla., spokeswoman Susan Clary said. He had suffered a heart attack in August, three months after suffering a stroke while touring in Iowa. Doctors said the stroke affected his ability to speak, and he had returned to Florida to continue rehabilitation.
