Schwarzenegger says gay marriage could be good for economy

Will gay marriage help boost California's economy? Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger hopes so.

In the wake of the state Supreme Court's legalization of gay marriage, the Republican governor said Tuesday in San Francisco he hopes gay couples come to California for wedded bliss.

"You know, I'm wishing everyone good luck with their marriages and I hope that California's economy is booming because everyone is going to come here and get married," said Schwarzenegger, prompting laughs and applause, according to a recording.

2. Out here in P)alm Springs
they are depending on some wedding action. After the Dinah Shore weekend then White Party the week before, they hope they can keep the business coming throughout the off season. Watch for Palm Springs wedding packages.

13. Actually, our Governator being from the movie biz means he's worked with a lot of gays....
It's after 1 am here, so I'm not going to be too articulate. Let's just say that for all his many flaws, I never got the impression that Arnold is a bigot about sexuality or color.

What he has done flies in the face of the bigoted "family values" segment of the RW, and he's laughing about it. "Oh hey look, Kal-ee-for-nee-ya stands to make money off weddings and honeymoons." Yeesh, can you imagine what some other Repub governors would say?

17. Nothin' wrong with that. I'm fond of money, myself. It'd be mighty hard to make do w/o it.
We all want a good, stable local economy, don't we? More jobs, more local money, more services and goods in the area.

Money can be a good thing, as Warren Buffet and Bill Gates show.

7. LMAO at the biblebeaters on Je$u$ TV
Laughing myself sick over these Prea¢her$ turning on Arnold and demanding his TOTAL RECALL! If they are stupid enough to try it, I would have to vote "NO" just to stick it in their faces!

8. Hey, it has been good for the Massachusetts economy
Legalized gay marriage has attracted a good volume of talented people to the state. They bring with them talents and skills. It's a win-win!!!

15. No. Arnold's literally laughing. See my post above.
Ultimately the only thing that's going to work is for the courts to recognize this as the next wave of civil rights. Most of our society is already on board with legal equality for gays, but the RW can always get the Bible-thumpers into a froth over gay marriage and signing petitions and voting on it.

16. Yuh think?????
Anyone in the gift or catering industry could have told you that, dummy. Decades ago. And, after seven years of assaults on the travel and tourism industry...with no end in sight...a new honeymoon economy is not the worst idea either.
