Radical cleric appeals extradition from Britain to US
Source: AFP

LONDON (AFP) - Lawyers for the radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri, convicted in Britain of race-hate crimes and soliciting murder, began a legal challenge Monday against his extradition to the United States.

The Egyptian-born former imam of the once notorious Finsbury Park mosque in north London is wanted for allegedly trying to set up an Al-Qaeda training camp in the northwest US state of Oregon.

But his legal team are arguing at London's High Court that his extradition, which was signed by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith in February this year, should be blocked as evidence gained by torture was being used against him.

Lawyer Alun Jones told the court in written arguments that his client should be tried in London, not the United States, because he was living here at the time of the alleged offences.

I hope this man would be send to the US. And get a fair trial there.. Ore at least given a decent trial in the UK.. But this man should rather be sendt to Egypt, than to US if he was to be sendt somewhere... In Egypt they want him too.. This man have in every sense, misused the whole asylium right that every man and woman have the right to invoke when coming to another country. This man is not a good man, rather the opposite...

And for the evidence thing.. Many thing that maybe are in the case against him, are given by his own account because he have been wherry aloud about what he want, and what he want others to do... This man is what I would call a bad Apple. But he have as all apples the right to get a decent trial with all the drapes a democratic society want to give their prisoners... He is "Innocent" to the opposite is proven...

3. Sending him to Egypt first....
....might just mean he never arrives alive to the next country. You've undoubtedly heard of the notorious jails there. Worse than here by far and they don't allow the Red Cross in.

Yes I have heard about the Egyptian jail system.. Terrible place to be...

But he has a warrant on his head in Egypt, all the time he was less than "nice" in his native nation Egypt. And one of the reason he was granted asylum in UK, was because he was afraid for his life.. But after he was granted asylum he have always been an asshole and have doing much damage to all muslims in UK.. And maybe even to all muslims in the northern part of Europe to some extence..

Many prison systems in the Middle East are _bad_ with the capital letter B. Maybe therefore US want to send prisoners they claim to be terrorist to the same prisons, because there they can use every meted they want to get information, including torture.. And therefor your Administration can claim that american don't torture, pr definition it is not the americans who torture..

But anyway, can this man be given a fair trial even after he is send to US?.. I have the strict feeling that prisoner with the claim of terrorism, are in no way safe to get a fair trial, not in Europe and specially not in US... Not at this age.. Maybe later but not at the moment..

4. The only reason for choosing Oregon is to create an al-Qaeda bigfoot army.
The chimp should be extradited for war crimes but everyone is too scared to do anything.
