Source: MSNBC

FORT WORTH, Texas - Fort Worth police arrested a Crowley man accused of trying to cash a stolen check for billions of dollars. Police said Charles Ray Fuller, 21, tried to cash the check at a Chase Bank, but the teller did a double take after noticing the check was for $360 billion.

The check was made out to "Fulla Comp and Entertainment," the record company Fuller wanted to start, NBC 5 reported.

<snip>

Laird said if her family had $360 billion, "I wouldn't be sitting here. I'd be somewhere drinking margaritas. It's five o'clock somewhere, sometime."

3. It seems that way, and then you think...
How would the end result of giving this man hundreds of billions to start a record company stack up against the end result of giving Bush hundreds of billions to start a war? It might just be a lot less dumb that what we have.

I was wondering where I put that. Glad the bank didn't cash it. Now, if they could just wire me my money, we can consider this case closed.

9. I read once, several years ago in the 90s
in an America's Dumbest Criminals type magazine.......That some dipshit in Wichita, KS got caught trying to spend counterfeit money. Get this, the perp was trying to spend a $16 bill.

Yes, I said a $16 bill.

11. In other news.....
...I once read about a convenience store clerk that accepted an 8"x5" $100 bill. Apparently he or she was convinced by the "Yes. Haven't you ever heard them described as 'big bills'?" argument.

20. My dad and grandpa
...used to write each other $10,000 checks for Christmas. So they could have the conversation:

"What did your (son/dad) get you for Christmas?"
"Aw, he just wrote me a check."
"Really? How much?"
"Ten grand." :D

15. Wind up like the people in Zimbabwe
I was watching a special on Zimbabwe and a guy in South Africa showed the reporter from Asia-Pacific one of the bills -- I think it was a 150,000,000 dollar note 9about 3 bucks US) and the note had an expiration date of June 29, 2008 on it.

Apparantly this is done in case the economy ever recovers.

Edited on Fri May-02-08 02:34 AM by krispos42
360,000,000,000 dollars requires at least 3.6 billion $100 bills.

Each bill weights one gram, so that 3.6 billion grams. Or 3.6 million kilograms. Or 3,600 metric tons. Or 4,032 US tons. Or about 160 tractor-trailer loads.

What was his plan??? "Here, just fill up my trunk. I'll make a few round trips."

That's 248,073,192 cubic inches of money, or 143,561 cubic feet, or 5,317 cubic yards. It's a cube 52'4" on a side.

For reference, your average 4-person hot-air balloon has a capacity of about 100,000 cubic feet!

I almost wish they had the money for it on hand, just to see the expression on his face!

<on edit: it's also about 1/3 of my entire freakin' apartment building!!!>

16. "You can't arrest me! My buddy George Bush cashes checks like this all the time!"
"I am a fine upstanding Republican, and there is nothing wrong with cashing a $360 billion dollar check."

"And No, I am not going to use the money to send weapons to terrorists in an un-named South American country."
