Judge orders federal government to decide polar bear listing

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A federal judge has ordered the Interior Department to decide within 16 days whether polar bears should be listed as a threatened species because of global warming.

U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken is agreeing with conservation groups that the department missed a January deadline.

The judge's order dated Monday rejects a government request for further delay until June 30. The judge is based in California but her ordered was received Tuesday in Anchorage...
