Ex-U.S. Arms Hunter Kay Says No Stockpiles in Iraq
Fri Jan 23, 2:20 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - David Kay, who stepped down as leader of the U.S. hunt for weapons of mass destruction, said on Friday he does not believe there were any large stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons in Iraq (news - web sites).

"I don't think they existed," Kay told Reuters in a telephone interview. "What everyone was talking about is stockpiles produced after the end of the last (1991) Gulf War (news - web sites) and I don't think there was a large-scale production program in the '90s," he said.

6. Obvious a long time ago.
The news media never bothered to report the following.

Quote:

"We had a good discussion, the Foreign Minister and I and the President and I, had a good discussion about the nature of the sanctions -- the fact that the sanctions exist -- not for the purpose of hurting the Iraqi people, but for the purpose of keeping in check Saddam Hussein's ambitions toward developing weapons of mass destruction.

We should constantly be reviewing our policies, constantly be looking at those sanctions to make sure that they are directed toward that purpose. That purpose is every bit as important now as it was ten years ago when we began it. And frankly they have worked. He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors. So in effect, our policies have strengthened the security of the neighbors of Iraq, and these are policies that we are going to keep in place, but we are always willing to review them to make sure that they are being carried out in a way that does not affect the Iraqi people but does affect the Iraqi regime's ambitions and the ability to acquire weapons of mass destruction, and we had a good conversation on this issue." Colin Powell

When did Powell say this? February 24, 2001. More than a year before his presentation at the U.N., Powell knew that Saddam didn't have any WMDs and knew that Iraq wasn't a threat to its neighbors. He knew that the sanctions and inspections were working. He knew, when he gave his speech before the U.N. that everything he was saying was untrue.

Talk about your stunning revelations. Not.

This has to be causing some consternation in the West Wing, right now. Add the Senate Server crimes, The Plame-Wilson Affair and The Space Joke, and you have a president and party that is flailing.

Too bad our media lives up the repukes butts. All this would be real news, if they didn't.

13. What's truly stunning is that Kay didn't just concoct huge BS for $$$$$
We all knew he was a bush lackey going in to "find" WMDs; now, perhaps, bushco figures that WMDs have become secondary to "humanitarian" reasons, and a verifiably false WMD claim would hurt more than it helps their cause.

7. How many millions and lives did this cost?
Now we have a new stooge searching searching. After 20 years of dealing with Iraq, don't we know everything 10 times over? Goodbye Kay and thanks for your honesty and I hope you can get away from the regime with your life.

14. What a great cosmic practical joke? Who would have guessed?
Who would have guessed? Even Scott Ritter thought there must have been a few loose cans of tear gas around. This has to be one the great historical embarrassments of all time. For all those who believe G. W. Bush is destined by God and good luck, what a laugh! Bush will always be the arrogant gungho cowboy who went to war against an enemy that didn't exist.

16. This was on the news tonight
THREE leadoff stories negative to the administration! On Peter Jennings only it was the other guy. No WMD and they said it was why bush went to war, then showed him listing all the weapons 'we know are there'. Wow, now I don't remember the other 2 but it was great!

I'd like to congratulate him for his courage in speaking out. Especially when he knows his wife will suddenly contract cancer or he will be accused of taking money from the Kuwaitis or something.

20. This should be huge
but is being largely ignored by the US media. CNN (Corporate News Network) has no mention what so ever on their web site for instance.

Bush Lied. The notion that the WMD stockpiles were destroyed in 91 is not exactly a new one but of course facts never had anything to do with their desire to invade Iraq.

It's not news 'worthy'. A blow job on the other hand, that's big news, yesterday and today.

Well off to Syria or Iran for our next war!
