Georgia posts big jump in mass layoff jobless claims

Georgia posted the nations second-largest increase in jobless claims due to large-scale layoffs, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report released Thursday.

In 2003, mass layoffs produced 7,121 more jobless claims in Georgia than those caused in 2002 by such large-scale layoffs.

Only the state of New York, which had 8,005 more claims from laid-off workers than in 2002, had a larger increase than Georgia.

After the administration of Harding, Coolidge and Hoover, economic conditions got so bad that the Democrat Roosevelt was elected, he brought the nation especially the south back to economic health , and it took three generations of people dying off before another right wing Conservative republican was elected president of the United States again...(Ronald Reagan & Bush Hoover W.( Bush the lesser is applying the same tax policies in his administration as Harding,Coolidge and Hoover, big tax cuts to business and wealthy citizens, causing a maldistribution of income , therefore Bush the lesser is seeing the same results, deep recession , a failure with economic...Maybe they still have a few of Great Grandfathers stories of the depression in their memories and will do as their ancestors did vote democrat for the next 70 years.

12. I am a Georgia transplant by way of Florida for the

last 25 years. Sure is a bummer on jobs here as the figures show. My son and daughter both college graduates had a struggle finding jobs. My son finally went over into Florida and got a job since it is only a 45 minute drive for us to Tallahassee but my daughter don't want to do the drive so she is still searching in Georgia doing some tutoring part time.

Yep, might look good down here for the Democrat and they maximize this issue.

13. I'm not so sure of the rest of the state, but Atlanta

got hit hard after 9/11 because much revenue comes from conventions. After 9/11, conventions scaled way back if they didn't cancel altogether. Convention business is probably at least 25% less than what it was pre-9/11, and then this affects hotels, taxis, restaurants, bars, tourist sites, museums, and malls, all who have been shedding employees since it looks like a recovery is going to be long and slow, if shrub let's it happen at all.
