Microsoft to ADD up to 5000 jobs Worldwide
Looks like the world's most notorious monopoly will be hiring soon. Between 3000-3500 of the jobs will be in the United States.

Not bad if you're willing to work 90 hour weeks. Maybe some of the IT folks on here could apply for these jobs.

1. Don't count on it....
Because at the same time they are adding whatever these "new jobs" are, they are laying off an equal or greater number of people, not including the non-Microsoft employees currently losing their outsourcing contracts for Microsoft to companies in India and China.

3. Bang bang bang.
I don't appreciate the Microsoft Hedgemony any more than anyone else, they brutalize their competetors with horizontal price fixing structures and exclusive rights to code. But, I do know they take care of their own. At least up until last year, anyone have differing info I'll change my mind on it. But Microsoft generally rewards those who work in the datamines. *Although the 90 hour work week is a tad overmuch*

4. oh come on
They got their pants sued off them because they had an ARMY of temps, that had been there for ~years~, some in rather high positions within the company. They kept them as temps so they wouldn't have to pay any form of reasonable benefits, like healthcare/dental coverage, 401k plans, the usual stuff people should expect from a multi-billion dollar company.

5. Class Warfare. Liberal_Veteran Has This Right.
The keyword here is "world-wide".

L3 Communications, Microsoft, Cooper Industries and and thousands of American based corporations deceitfully cloud the accurate reality of their "downsizing" all American operations with the euphemism of "world-wide expansion" in order to avoid criticism and public hostility. It is job transfer away from the American working class.

That's why I cringe whenever I hear progressives or liberals mistakenly use the term "Corporate America". There is no such thing!

I urge all DU'er to refrain from using the erroneous term of "Corporate America" and use the accurate terms of Global or Multi-National Corporations in your speech and writings.

Language has power.

Liberal_Veteran hit the nail on the head with this story.

When Republicans charge Democrats and Socialists of wanting to engage in "Class Warfare", they are immunizing the public against their worst fear, that progressives will engage in exposing them as the perpetuators of Class Warfare.

Republicans want to engage in Class Warfare, they just don't want Democrats to call them on it!
