Gold up $18.90 to $1021.50 Sunday as Overseas Markets Open
Source: Kitco

Whether is it Bear Stearns failure, or Paulson's admission that capitalism without
regulation doesn't work, or the expected continued failure of the US$, or Warren
Buffett's statement that the next bubble to burst is $510 TRILLION of derivatives ... there's no explanation, but it isn't just U money going into
Gold.

11. I got a "ton" of gold chains (14K and 18K) from the 80s
I inherited from my Mom. They are sitting in a bureau drawer. I just never knew what I should do with them. Melt them down?

14. Melting down your gold is the last thing you want to do
Even if you could stoke up the 1947 degrees F needed to melt gold, you would just end up with a blob that would have to be assayed before a dealer would touch it. If your gold is solid, it would be much better to have the 14K or 18K mark for the dealer to see.

12. Multiply the spot price by .585 to get a rough estimate
If you sell it, you will get a little less.
