Chinese 'arming Darfur conflict'
Source: al Jazeera

Chinese sales of assault rifles and other weapons to Sudan have grown rapidly during the conflict in the western Darfur region despite a UN arms embargo, according to a US-based rights group.

Human Rights First said on Thursday that a study of Sudanese and UN trade data showed that China was virtually the only supplier of small arms to Sudan.

Khartoum pays for the weapons it buys from Beijing with its growing oil revenues, the rights group said.

"The people of Sudan's Darfur region will endure more death, disease and dislocation, and this will be due in no small part to China's callousness," the report said.

4. what's this?
"The people of Sudan's Darfur region will endure more death, disease and dislocation, and this will be due in no small part to China's callousness," the report said."

....it doesn't matter, it's a New World Order thing....might makes right, national interest trumps everything....human rights and peace are old business....

....sorry Human Rights First, bushco and friends say we have to get use to corporate wars....100 years or more of war....

"...China was virtually the only supplier of small arms to Sudan."

....you could look for the 'large arms' suppliers to Sudan, but remember, where there is war there is profit and where there is profit there is the jackboot of a large corporation waiting to crush you should you get in their way....

Yea, The U.S. has done a lot of questionable and bad things. But that doesn't mean you chalk up an evil action to the U.S. every time some fucked up action is going on. As far as evil countries go there are many more countries ahead of the U.S.

7. unfortunately, I do..

The United States, acting through surrogate allies in Chad and neighboring states has trained and armed the Sudan Peoples' Liberation Army, headed until his death in July 2005 by John Garang, trained at the US Special Forces school at Fort Benning, Georgia.

By pouring arms into first southeastern Sudan and since discovery of oil in Darfur into that region as well, Washington fueled the conflict that led to tens of thousands dying and several million driven to flee their homes. Eritrea hosts and supports the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), the umbrella NDA opposition group, and the Eastern Front and Darfur rebels.
