Audit: More FBI Privacy Abuses in 2006
Source: Associated Press

(03-13) 08:16 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

The Justice Department's inspector general reported Thursday that the FBI continued to improperly obtain personal information about Americans for terrorism investigations during 2006. He reserved judgment on whether corrective actions under way will work.

"It is too early to tell whether these measures will eliminate fully the problems," Inspector General Glenn A. Fine said in his second report in two years on the use of national security letters to obtain personal information. Fine said the FBI and Justice Department had made significant progress in implementing revised procedures since last year but some measures still are not fully in use or tested.

The new procedures govern how FBI agents use national security letters, which allow them to obtain telephone, bank, Internet and credit records without first getting a warrant from a judge. These revised procedures were announced after Fine's report last year found 48 violations of law or rules in the bureau's use of national security letters from 2003 to 2005.

Fine said that the number of abuses found and reported by the FBI itself in 2006 "was significantly higher than the number of reported violations in prior years." He said the improved self-policing "may be explained in large part" by attention focused on these issues by his earlier audit, which was being conducted during 2006.

5. The sheeple continue to suggest that the all democrats can be...
trusted. Please realize that this is not about bush and one corrupt side of government, if we continue to speak this way it only helps others to fall for that shit. Repeat it enough and it becomes truth to many! Our country is being raped by corrupt politicians on both sides of the aisle, one side wouldn't have got away with what they have without either cooperation or a physical war with each other. Except for a few like Kucinich, I don't see the democrats out making press conferences or speechs on the floor about all of the corruption, abuse and the attack on the constitution. The sooner the American people take their blinders off, the better the chance our children will have a future.

Their agenda involves keeping us all divided, whether its republicans and democrats, race, gender, you name it. We cant keep parroting the things the media wants us to. We need to better educate ourselves so our words can help educate others, not dumb them down.

We cant keep believing this WWE wrestling style of politics that they sell us. Just imagine if there were only GOOD characters on the WWE, the sensationalized garbage would be gone and everyone would focus on how FAKE and STAGED the actual wrestling was. Now look at politics that way, if they show their true agendas'(like why they went to war for oil), we would see that its a game that is STAGED and we would react. Instead we choose to follow their lead sheepishly and enable them to destroy our childrens future!

America, wake up before its too late!

6.  FBI disregarded secret court on private records
Source: Reuters

The FBI twice disregarded a secret court's constitutional objections and obtained private records for national-security probes, a U.S. inspector reported on Thursday

The Justice Department's Inspector General made the disclosure in reviews of the FBI's powers to obtain information such as phone records or credit-card data in terrorism probes or other security investigations.

"We questioned the appropriateness of the FBI's actions" in disregarding the court, the Inspector General's office said.

An influential Senate Democrat accused the FBI of "systemic failure" and the American Civil Liberties Union said the reviews demonstrated a need to check the agency's authority.

...and then can't even be bothered to play by the rigged rules. It's not enough that they're corrupt, the have to go one step further and be corrupt about being corrupt. What does that make them, metacorrupt?
