Teens Accused of Beating Disabled Woman
Source: CINCINNATI (AP)

Two teenagers hid overnight in a house and spent more than six hours torturing a disabled woman after her mother left in the morning, authorities said.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said the teenage boy and girl tied up the 18-year-old woman, clubbed her, kicked her, shaved her head and soaked her with water before making her walk barefoot outside in the snow.

They also ignored pleas from the woman, who had undergone brain surgery, not to hit her in the head, investigators said.

"This is one of the worst crimes I've ever seen," Jones said Monday. "They are sick animals, apparently just doing this for kicks and no other reason."

2. They should be tried as adults.
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 10:32 AM by IanDB1
Cheyenne Blanton, 17, and Joseph Nagle, 16, both of Hamilton, were arraigned Monday on juvenile delinquency charges that include aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, felonious assault and vandalism, according to juvenile court officials.

<snip>

Both Jones and the woman's mother, Sheila Clark, want the teenagers tried as adults, and Jones said the two could get 75 years to life in prison if tried and convicted as adults.

"I want full justice for my daughter," Clark said Monday. "Those two never need to walk the streets again."

3. Evil and stupid
Detectives apprehended the teenagers a few minutes later in some woods after following their footprints in the snow, Jones said.

They need to be put somewhere until they are too old and feeble to hurt anyone else. Unfortunately, the taxpayers will be paying for thier food and housing.

7. My thoughts exactly. No regard for the poor or down trodden.....
The disabled lady should have defended herself, is their rationale.

They will make good little brown shirt neocons. And as previously stated, I hope they get their asses kicked in jail as well. How low can you go?

11. You Have To Wonder
If that kind of evil can merely be learned or from a 'bad upbringing'. Such pure sociopaths. I almost wish I was going to be in the jail they go to, so I can beat them up myself. And I am a pacifist, this is the kind of ire this raises in me. But seriously, I think society needs to be more vigilant and aware of emerging sociopaths.

The traits are already there before such awful crimes occur. A lack of care for anyone but themselves, a kind of cold-bloodedness that does make you wonder if some folks descended from reptiles. You'll see them first killing bugs, for fun, then small animals maybe. You'll see them pick on smaller siblings in a way not to be confused with playful, but a desire to hurt, for the sake of it.

Preying on those most vulnerable, and often, most kind. The big mean person who's onto them, nope, it's not a safe target, they go for the small, kind friend or acquaintance and viciously. The better one is to them, the more they see them as a target. I'd dealt with and fell victim (in much lesser ways, mainly minor theft, etc.) to sociopaths in life, long before I learned what the definition of the word is.

Unlike pyschopaths...they are not as visible and can seem 'normal'. Though they can be as mean, or worse. They are chameleons, shape-shifting into 'likable' alpha types long enough to gain trust from the most gullible so often. They have an affinity for money, they honestly make you think they didn't sell their soul to the devil, but never had a soul to begin with.

It's how Scott Peterson, this 'likable' alpha-type figure, can marry a beautiful, caring, trusting woman, and when she gives the great gift of carrying his baby, he casually offs her. Why? She got in the way of what he wanted, which was all that matters. He wanted an affair with that blond/trophy bimbo, didn't want alimony and child support payments, and did want her life insurance policy payment.

Nothing else mattered and he had no look of remorse or genuine sadness over it, even if he 'didn't do it' as he said. It just didn't matter. These folks are like pedophiles, you can't 'rehab' them, it's how they are. Of course we can't kill them or jail them before they commit some major felony, be it larceny to abuse to murder. But we can be more wary, vigilant and protect ourselves by knowing, and taking steps. Tell me you don't know a few people exactly like I'm describing, and you've not seen them hurt others.

Hitler had that streak in him. Stalin did too. The money-elite globalists that financed their rise to power were also totally sociopaths and knew how to spot those like that, but a little more gullible or paranoid also as an enabling factor. We can continue to hope for the best in people, but really, some are just cold and throughout time, they've targeted and victimized the kindest of us, for no reason really, or for a very selfish reason, but never for anyone else's benefit.

The kind people turn the other cheek and there is sense to it, but just don't take your eyes off the perpetrator when you do. And stand up for the idea of doing what you can so nobody else has to turn that cheek. Our way is peaceful, it's how we are. It's why they get away with the small things leading up to the larger atrocities.

It's OJ being caught almost red-handed beating the shit out of his wife, only to get a wrist-slap and continue to escalate. How many wife-killers didn't present with prior violent records? The kind but assertive women get out to safety. The kind but gullible try to work it out and it never gets better, they just end up in the hospital or dead.

We see that in politics. How Dick Cheney can have that smirk, watching the trained monkey in an empty suit named Bush do his bidding. Thousands of Americans die, millions die around the world based on their policies. In 2003 alone, he made 1/3 of a million dollars in tax savings thanks to the Bush tax cuts that got the average struggling American shit. And he smiled the whole time. We can think of thousands of times we saw that smirk on his VP Rove. There is evil in this world.

12. We read about this episode
And we seem to have no trouble with trying this 16- and 17-year-old as adults. Drop 'em in the deepest, darkest hole we can find and be done with them. Hope they get beat up, too.

Yet, we read about horrific things done by our military in our names by folks a little older than 16 or 17, and we make up all kinds of excuses for why someone in uniform might behave that way, how it's all different in war, and we really can't hold the perpetrators culpable. We allow them to be turned over to courts martial, where their comrades in arms sit in a kinder, gentler judgment over their straying brothers from the band.

It's a curious thing to me, and I confess to having great difficulty understanding the disparate treatment of the offenders and the great difference in public opinion.

14. Were these two told it was an honor to serve their country? Were they under orders to act the way
they did? Did they see their friends killed and maimed by disabled women?

There's just a few differences for ya to ponder, in your state of great difficulty of understanding why soldiers' actions might not be remotely on a par with these two sociopaths.

24. I don't know
And I'm guessing that you don't, either. But if they could make out a colorable claim that they were serving something or doing something honorable or that they were under orders or that they were piss-their-pants scared, then you'd let them off the hook? Even if you suspected that their self-serving explanations weren't true, or even if true weren't sufficient?

29. Er, those were rhetorical questions.
Which somebody who uses the word colorable surely knew. There is a difference between everyday life and the theater of war. Though you don't seem to want to acknowledge it, I'll bet you know that too.

30. Perhaps I misread your post
But it sure sounded like a variation on that standard chorus of "might makes right." And if might doesn't necessarily make right, it's tough for me to figure out just when might all on its own does make right and when it doesn't. Is it the presence of the uniform? The state of "pre-emptive" war (which back in the quaint old days of the Geneva Conventions used to be called unprovoked aggression)?

16. it is the principle
The state should not be as grotesque as people like these teens. Life in prison, hell why not life of hard labor, but the death penalty is just state condoned vengence killing. Having said that, I could imagine killing such folks had they kidnapped my daughter and I had arrived, grabbed my gun, and followed the trail in the snow myself. I just do not think they should be killed once they are no longer a danger, but killing them to liberate my child would be another thing.

27. It would be more merciful than what will happen to them in prison.
They're horrible subhuman shits -- but throwing them in a high-security facility with other subhuman shits is worse.

This country's whole prison system needs a massive overhaul.

19. A lot of folks here express desire for various revenges on the perps here
If punishing criminals is your thing why don't you get a job in the criminal justice system? Police, parole officers, prison guard, prosecuting attorney.

I spent a summer interning in the prosecutors office. In my little time there I saw cases so much worse than this. Abuse, rape of old women. Burning of babies. The worst sort of perverse sexual abuse of children. These things happen everyday. Go do something about it.

26. And these two cretins are parents of a 2 month old baby
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 06:03 PM by RamboLiberal
After consuming the food, the teens, who are the parents of a two-month-old baby.....

"I think they did this mostly for kicks and giggles," the sheriff said, adding the two had no remorse when taken into custody.

Bobby Clark, Ashley's father, found it difficult to describe his feelings about the crime.

"It was a total shock," he said. "Ashley is doing fine, the best she can be doing now."

He added, "Pray to God for mercy on their (the suspects') souls."

http://www.western-star.com/n/content/oh/story/news/local/2008/02/23/hjn022408invasion.html

Ashley's father is certainly kinder than I would be. And you have to wonder where their baby will end up. I hope it is in a responsible loving home. The baby is certainly better off away from these creeps.
