Pakistan bomb attack kills general

Seven people, including the Pakistani army's most senior medical officer, have been killed in a suicide bomb attack in Rawalpindi, according to military sources.

Lieutenant-General Mushtaq Baig, who led the army's medical corps, died when a car packed with explosives struck a line of military vehicles in the garrison city on Monday.

"Surgeon general Lieutenant-General Mushtaq Ahmed Baig, his driver and a guard were killed in the attack," a military official said.

Five civilians were also killed and 25 people were wounded, he said.
