Ohio Jobs Loss Is Biggest Seven-Year Decline Since 1939
Source: Workers Independent News
Ohio has become the key battleground state in the battle ground state in the race for the Democratic nomination. The big question is, how will the candidates react to a new study showing Ohio’s job losses since 2000 are worse than since the Great Depression? Jesse Russell reports:
Up until Wisconsin the two top candidates running for President on the Democratic side of the ticket were vague about where they stood on trade. The tone changed after Illinois Senator Barack Obama spoke to a plant of autoworkers in Janesville, Wisconsin outlining his plans for trade and the economy. Since then New York Senator Hillary Clinton has also begun including more trade talk in her speeches.
8. And don't forget 16 jolly years of Republican "leadership" at the state level
Ohio was mandated to clean up inequitable public school funding years ago ... Have they? That would be no. Public higher education has been underfunded, so instead tuitions have climbed and education has become less affordable.
Even with a Democratic governor, the legislature is still controlled by Republicans who do their roadblock thing.
I've lived in Ohio for more than 20 years and gotten more and more frustrated with the lack of thinking and planning. And yes, the state had George Voinovich and Mike Dewine (replaced by Sherrod Brown--hooray!) to serve Bushco ... and Bushco still gave the state the shaft. And the state has lots of "Good Christians" who vote according to their pastors (ie, "Patriot Pastors").
Ohio is hurting and what happened in 2004 didn't help any to turn things around.
