No chitchat between Clinton and Obama
Source: AP

Rival Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama came within a foot of each other just before President Bush's State of the Union speech Monday night and managed not to acknowledge each other, and certainly not touch.

Clinton, clad in scarlet, crossed the aisle between their seats on the House floor and reached out a hand to greet Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Democratic icon whose endorsement she had courted only to lose it to Obama.

Kennedy shook her hand while Obama, wearing a dark suit and standing between the two, turned away.

snip...

On his way out of the chamber, Bush shook hands with Obama. The president and Clinton did not shake hands.

2. Most of it seems like celebrity gossip to me
With the following exception...

Bush shook hands with Obama. The president and Clinton did not shake hands.

Why do you suppose that happened?

5. I think its much ado about nothing, however,
I think there is a residual fallout from running a negative campaign.

I think the primary system of late is a scorched earth policy, and it damages everyone involved.

7. What do I think
I think Obama was tacky not to shake hands with Hillary. Is this the kind of presidency he intends to run. Obama sounds petty and whiney to me.

13. Did she reach out her hand to him? My sense was that he scooted out of the way for Ted.

14. Interesting how you can create a story
when you have nothing else to do. I find this more a statement on how little there was to the shrubs little chat than anything else.

16. I guess maybe they were just showing off their teeth then?

Picture above from Huffington Post

Sure looks like they were getting along fine, and it also appears looking at the pic in the posted article that this would be just BEFORE Hillary reaches out to Sen. Kennedy.

17. Frankly I don't care who shook whose hand. I'm assuming
chimp reached out to shake Obama's hand and he had no choice but to shake it since the cameras were on him. I just hope he had some hand sanitizer in his pocket and that he used it immediately afterwards.

19. Good stuff. The media is preoccupied with the Dems, at the expense of the 'thugs.
They're totally useless anyway... un-newsworthy bunch of weirdos who make America look like some backward Southern Bible-belt community. Sorry to Southern Bible-belt lovers. 8^)

20. like and respect
we all get too caught up in liking v respecting. I think its more important to respect someone rather than like them. I do not think hilary or barrack respect each other for reasons that may be valid or not. For instance while I dislike dubya with a passion and for many reasons I have to respect certain things about him (he believes what he believes and will stand for it and he is loyal to his people, misguided as it may be) On the other hand I like Hilary but I don't quite respect her because of the negative campaigning she and Bill, whom I like as well, have been running. This is why I would be able to shake Bush's hand in good conscience while i couldn't do the same with the Clinton's. But thats just me
