Mosul, Jan 21, (VOI) - A U.S. chopper killed two policemen and injured another one while planting a bomb in eastern Mosul, a source from the Multi-National Force-Iraq (MNF-I) said on Monday.

"U.S. patrol saw three policemen while planting explosive devices in al-Zuhour neighborhood in eastern Mosul on late Sunday," Abdul Rayan, media adviser for the MNF-I, told Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI) over the phone.

"The patrol called the air force and a U.S. helicopter opened fire on them, killing two and injuring the third," he added.

"Police forces rushed to the scene and identified the two bodies and the wounded," he also said.
Director of the Ninewa police department's operations room Brigadier Abdul Karim al-Juburi had earlier said that a U.S. helicopter mistakenly opened fire against a police checkpoint, killing two cops and wounding a third one.
