US General (Abizaid) in Pakistan to request troops for Iraq
Associated Press

Visiting US Central Command chief Gen. John Abizaid is expected to press Islamabad to send troops to Iraq, news reports said on Wednesday.

US Embassy spokeswoman Linda Cheatham said Abizaid's visit is the first since he assumed his command, that includes responsibility for US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"The general has recently become the Central Command chief, so he is here on an introductory visit," Cheatham said.

She refused to give details of the visit, which began late on Wednesday, but Pakistani newspapers said Abizaid wants Pakistan to send two army brigades to Iraq. ---

Pakistani religious parties have warned Musharraf against sending soldiers to Iraq, threatening nationwide demonstrations if troops are deployed there. ---

2. This must be...The Bush Doctrine!
Remember that one? I never understood what the hell the Bush Doctrine was supposed to be, unless it was to go kill lots of people in a country that didn't plan and execute the September 11th attacks.

Anyway, I've not heard a thing about the Bush Doctrine since then, so maybe we can revive it. I think the Bush Doctrine is to piss off as much of the world as you can, then go begging them for help when you need it. But don't forget to maintain your arrogance during all of this. And if India refuses to send their soldiers to die, then just get their mortal enemy Pakistan to do the job for you. Make sure they kill their own religious bretheren too. And if anything goes wrong, point fingers at subordinates like there's no tomorrow.

This should be a great success.
