KABUL, Afghanistan - An explosion that reverberated throughout Kabul went off inside the city's centrally located luxury hotel that is frequented by foreigners, police said Monday.

Mohammad Arif, a police officer, said the explosion had gone off inside the Serena Hotel.

3. It's probably a newly built luxury hotel for the CIA
When they say it's frequented by "foreigners", they're talking about CIA and other intelligence agency spooks.

Taleban attack Kabul luxury hotel

At least six people have died in an attack by Taleban
fighters on a luxury hotel in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

A big blast, which the Taleban say was caused by a
bomber detonating his explosive jacket, shook the
Serena hotel and was followed by shooting.

The interior ministry said six people, mainly guards,
had died. It was not clear whether the toll included
a Norwegian journalist confirmed dead.

Guests, including the Norwegian foreign minister, took
refuge in a cellar.
