Kucinich Believes Campaign Energized As Primary Approaches
Candidate Says Democrats Shouldn't Shy Away From Voting For Him

POSTED: 7:52 pm EST January 6, 2008

CONCORD, N.H. -- Even though he wasn't allowed to participate, Dennis Kucinich said that his campaign has been energized in the wake of the debates.

Kucinich is playing up his outsider status for his supporters, who filled an office in Concord to hear him speak on Sunday. The Ohio congressman is reaching out to mainstream Democrats, saying that if they like what he says, they shouldn't shy away from him based on his low poll numbers.

"If you don't vote for what you want, how do you get what you want?" Kucinich said. "This isn't 'American Idol.' We're electing a president of the United States."

Even though polls show him as a long shot, Kucinich said he won't be dropping out of the race any time soon.

3. hey dennis?
"If you don't vote for what you want, how do you get what you want?" Kucinich said.

You didn't throw your votes to the next most progressive candidate. Please spare me the "Do as I say, not as I do" crap.

8. Iowa and Edwards
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 05:18 AM by frog92969
From his newsletter-

"In answer to your questions about why I didn't support former Senator John Edwards on the second ballot in Iowa: I have serious concerns about his connections to a Wall Street hedge fund, Fortress Investment Group. While attacking others for accepting campaign money from Washington lobbyists, he is up to his ears in money from Wall Street special interests.

He made half a million dollars in a single year for attending a few meetings for Fortress and has invested a substantial part of his own personal wealth in the hedge fund whose portfolios are responsible for sub-prime predatory lending practices, Medicare privatization, and an entire range of corporate sharp dealings that are driving the middle class into poverty."

I approve this message!

Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 06:45 AM by FREEWILL56
as Dennis is against corporate power. No there was no surprise as others keep saying it to be a surprise. I'm surprised that many couldn't see past their noses to know this, but I suspect some do and use this to further push DK out of the race by making it appear as if he'd flip-flopped and thrown in the towl. Yes, bad mouth DK because why? He doesn't have as much support and is insignificant as many of you say, but if that were the real reason for going after him then you should go after Richardson as he's more popular by what many of you say. We don't see the kind of attacks going to Richardson as to DK do we? DK is pointing out the real problems and many dems are a part of those problems in condoning republican ways or you wouldn't be so threatened by somebody so far from being electable as many of you claim him to be now would you?
edit to add:
This was not aimed at you frog, but was a good place for me to extend my rant on some of those attacking DK.

He has a credible primary challenge, I'm not sure running for President for a few more months will help him with this.

I am sure we will need all the Kucinich types we can muster in the COngress to stop Edwards from back sliding. I believe a leopard does not change his spots and his record as senator from N.C. is far from perfect. Still those ambitious Kucinich posers in Cleveland should be ashamed. They praise Kucinich, yet their ambitions gives credience to the raggish newspaper, Plain Dealer's goal of opposing any progressive. ( Kucinich was endorsed by the Cleveland Labor COuncil. over 100,000 voters in Kucinich's district.) Kucinich has not ignored Cleveland's interests. What he has done is take Cleveland's needed urban agenda to the national arena, where it need be heard. Nothing less will further the interests of the cities. /Please remember. A reason to not forget, balance out your checks: Kucinich for President. Along with . Kucinich for COngress.

10. I think he's putting a weird spin on his campaign.
As he and his presidential campaign continues to drift, he says that "his campaign has been energized in the wake of the debates."

Huh?? Is he saying his self-pity about being left out of the debates because so few people want him to be president is somehow "energizing" something?

Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 08:12 AM by robcon
He knew the rules, and he didn't meet the criteria. He whined that he should have an exemption from the rules he knew about. He did this to generate some sympathy.

Definition of self-pity.

I think many of us would like to tune in to hear just what it is you are talking about as I am not seeing or hearing DK in the media due to many reasons. Maybe you are not 4, but 5 with your complaining as you seem to emotive into your own little petulant temper tantrum?

36. I think that proposal sounds very progressive and evolved.
Of course, a conservative would not think so.

Conservative thinking on these types of proposals seems to go something like,

"War good! Peace bad! Kill---eat! Goooood. Belch."

They supported going to war in Iraq, and most of them still support it.

Now that is a stupid political idea.

40. Issues are secondary for All candidates and ALL elections.
The choice of a candidate is driven mostly by trust... in the intelligence, honesty and choices that a candidate will make in the unknown, unpredictable things that happen every month during a presidency.

I reject Kucinich as too stupid to be president. His positions are somewhat irrelevant. I distrust his intelligence.
