KABUL (Reuters) - The reward for finding Osama bin Laden, the elusive leader of the al Qaeda network and the world's most wanted man, should be doubled to $50 million, a U.S. congressman visiting Afghanistan said Tuesday.

Mark Kirk, a Republican congressman from Illinois, also said U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan could remain there for more than a decade to help stabilize the war-shattered and chronically unstable country.

1. So?
Makes no matter how much it is. Should anyone find him and try to claim it it will not be paid just like the others.

3. Nice try
This is the year they nab him or never, thinks the sly GOP loyalist. Why not grab some of the credit by doubling the reward?

Well, if this is the year Musharraf delivers, and he has made some moves lately, Bush is not going to waste more money rewarding some dark skinned Muslim soldier or anyone else for that matter. Nor let Kirk get any shine off the apple.

it's not the money anyway. It's the timing, but I would be willing to wager, based on the weak obviously fabricated "verification" of Osama's dubious present existence, that we will only get unrecognizable pieces of "a" Bin Laden and complete uncritical media acceptance and trumpeting of same.

I'll see your 25 million and raise you a 100, Captain Kirk.

4. all smoke and mirrors
It'll never happen. He's in Pakistan, and they're our friends now. We bomb a country that has "alleged" ties with Al Queda, but won't ever bomb the country that's holding the supposed mastermind of 9/11. And he knows damn well he's safe there, surrounded by people who see him as a hero-messiah figure and will die before they give him up. This is a red herring. it'll never happen, and the kurds will never get paid for saddam either. Even though paying them is the least we could do after turning a blind eye to him gassing them, and then using it as an excuse 15 years later to bomb their country ourselves.

5. They're probably setting it up so a Bush gang member will "find" Bin La-
den and get the 50 mil and of course he'll have to 'share.'

6. Why doesn't he call for quadrupling it?
After all, it's not his f*cking money. The taxpayers get to pay for it, just like they do for every stupid idea congress comes up with (although there are a few good ones, too).
