Ministry backtracks on Bhutto sunroof claims (doctors were "threatened")

Source: CNN

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistan's Interior Ministry backtracked Tuesday on its statement that Benazir Bhutto died because she hit her head on a sunroof latch during a shooting and bomb attack.

The government also published a reward offer in several national newspapers to anyone who could identify two suspects from the killing.

...

"There's no intention to conceal anything from the people of Pakistan," an Interior Ministry news release said.

...

Athar Minallah, a lawyer on the board that manages Rawalpindi General Hospital, told CNN Monday that doctors did not make the statements attributed to them by the government. ... Minallah issued an open letter Monday and released the doctors' clinical notes to distance them from the government statement.

...

Minallah told CNN that he was speaking out because the doctors at the hospital were "threatened."

"They are government servants who cannot speak; I am not," he said. He did not elaborate on the threats against the doctors.

3. That Government must be out to lunch to think that anyone would believe...
the horse shit story of her banging her head. They must think that everyone in the world just fell off a turnip truck or something. I think the Pakistani people should demand the resignation of Mushie and his entire Government!

5. They're backtracking because nobody believed the story anyway.
So clumsy.

As for identification - I'm sure the two men who carried it out are in
small pieces - probably washed away when the area was so quickly hosed
down.

I think this is one more huge blunder on Musharraf's part - the attack
on the judiciary, the arrests of his opponents, and now assassination of
an opponent. He's panicking; he must be feeling very insecure. Only
the army generals are keeping him in power.

7. Another thing I just noticed about the *barely* reported death of BB's sister in law Naheed...
Edited on Tue Jan-01-08 08:33 PM by calipendence
that just happened yesterday according to a report from a Pakistani paper that appears to be subsequently censored, but not before a blog site and Yahoo's cache had got the content off of it.

http://benazibhutto.blogspot.com/2007/12/bbs-relative-killed-in-accident.html

Interesting that it looks to be removed from this Pakistani newspaper after being spidered by Google earlier:

http://news.google.com/news?sourceid=mozilla2&oe=utf-8&um=1&tab=wn&hl=en&q=%22Naheed+Bhutto%22&btnG=Search+News

And that link on that page goes to a page with no content in it:

http://thepost.com.pk/NatNews.aspx?dtlid=136717&catid=2

Here was the cached version from Yahoo (Google didn't have it cached), that basically is the same content of what is showing in the above blog link:

http://66.218.69.11/search/cache?ei=UTF-8&p=%22Naheed+Bhutto%22&y=Search&fr=yfp-t-501&u=www.thepost.com.pk/NatNews.aspx%3Fdtlid%3D136717%26catid%3D2&w=%22naheed+bhutto%22&d=R-WCjLXiQDWj&icp=1&.intl=us

Another conspiracy?
