Iraqi cabinet approves draft general pardon law
Wed Dec 26, 2007 6:00am EST

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The Iraqi cabinet approved a
draft law on Wednesday that will offer a general
pardon to thousands of prisoners in U.S. military
and Iraqi custody, a government spokesman said.

"The cabinet has passed the general pardon law,
which will define who is eligible to be freed from
all prisons, both Iraqi and American," spokesman
Ali al-Dabbagh told Reuters.

The law still needs to be approved by parliament.

The Iraqi authorities now hold 24,000 detainees
and U.S. forces 26,000. Critics say only a small
proportion of those held are ever prosecuted.

2. Here is another take on this from the BBC.
I suspect that some of those released, not all but some will have committed crimes against the U.S. soldiers and the Brits...As well as some terrorists acts..

and as far as little Georgie is concerend........he will take it, and suck it up, and say nothing. It may help him out of this mess, and save his so called "legacy".............not with me.........sure.

3. Iraq Government Backs Amesty Law..

Iraq government backs amnesty law

Iraq's government has backed a draft law that enables the release of thousands of suspected insurgents held captive by US and Iraqi forces.
The amnesty law is thought to specify offences for which prisoners who have been held without charge can be freed.
Parliament must debate the law on Sunday before it is ratified.
The number of prisoners held by US and Iraqi forces, estimated at 50,000, has risen sharply after the recent "surge" strategy, boosting military operations.

What this really means, is that some terrorist, who are being held, will be released. Most are probably innocents. But many are also probably people who have harmed and killed American solders. No one really knows since their system of justice is so imperfect, that no one knows how many people are being held, let alone what they all have done. Yet, some who be released, will probably be those who fought us and the Brits..But I suspect all that will be covered up too..

4. The majority ruled in favor of amnesty
Most likely the released will be expected to sign a document about ending the insurrection against the government.
If they get caught doing the same thing....I wonder if they will get put to death ? Will they ever release the amnesty oath they will be required to take
to the MSM ?
My guess is the MSM won't be interested in releasing those details .
