Yuma group suing farm labor contractor for hiring foreigners
Source: AP

YUMA - A farm labor contractor is being sued for allegedly hiring foreign workers under a special visa program and bypassing its existing pool of U.S. farmworkers.

The suit filed in federal court Phoenix this week accuses the contractor and its client of abusing a special visa system designed to help farmers bring in foreign workers when American workers can't be found.

Lawyers for Yuma-based Community Legal Services wrote in their filing that contractor Servicios Agricolas Mex. Inc. bypassed the pool of workers it had used for years to save money during the 2006 Arizona citrus harvest.

A lawyer for Servicios did not return calls on Friday.

3. Foreign workers doing the work that US workers won't do.

This article should easily expose that overused line for what it really is. A Lie.

Those who defend the foreign workers with this lie need to face the reality of it.
There is a definite difference in migrant workers who have well made their place in this country, and those who illegally enter this country and the contractors who undermine the US worker.
Union organizations that were formed of solidarity and fought long and hard for, to give fair wages, benefits, and human dignity to US workers fades into history with every situation like this one.

Like the US workers in the article, my neighbor also feels as they do when his roofing business cannot compete for contracts due to employers who buy cheap illegal labor, and the illegals who are more than willing to keep the contractor in business.
What is he to do?
More cases like this one need to be brought to attention of the courts and US jobs be returned to US workers.

5. Only 4% of cited businesses are fined or prosecuted by the DOJ
According to an print article in my local newspaper.

Out of thousands of businesses cited for hiring illegal aliens, the Bush administration has only prosecuted or fined a small handful.

As long as the administration turns its back, businesses will continue to hire illegals.
