TX Governor Rick Perry bashes Bush’s fiscal record
Source: Think Progress

During a campaign stop for Rudy Giuliani this week, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) criticized President Bush, saying “George Bush isn’t and he never was” a “real fiscal conservative” or “a bonafide Reagan Republican.” Perry, who succeeded Bush in Texas, also criticized Bush’s tenure as governor:

“Rudy is a real fiscal conservative. He’s a bonafide Reagan Republican. George Bush isn’t and he never was,” Perry said on the videotape.

The Governor extolled Giuliani’s conservative credentials. But at the expense of President Bush, who Perry characterized as too big a spender — even during his days in Texas.

“George Bush was spending money,” Perry told the gathering. “George has never ever been a fiscal conservative.”

3. I lived in Texas under Governor Goodhair for 8 years
And as much of a fool as he is, I will say this: Governor Bush left him with an awful mess to clean up.

5. Asswipe joked about the mess he left as well. At the end of the 1999
Texas Legislature session (the Texas Lege meets every other year or every odd year)it was obvious that the state was in poor fiscal shape. It was also obvious that Bush was already the man to beat for the 2000 Republican presidential nomination. He had the money, organization, and a very compliant MSM on his side.

So anyway, when informed of the mess he was leaving behind he said that this was not his concern because as the audience knew, when the Lege met again he was looking to have a new job.

He said this with his little smirk, his faux Texan accent, and ended it with his nauseating little dog pant laugh. What a kidder.Screws up three oil companies and now he's left a state in deficit for its first time ever.

Of course, the worst was yet to come.

13. Oh so brave, Rick Perry
I notice that none of this "not a real Republican" bullshit was breathed aloud while Bush was wrecking Texas and then the country. Instead, anyone criticizing our commander-in-chief in a time of war was vilified as a terrorist sympathizer or an outright traitor. I guess it's finally okay to cast a critical eye on George W. Bush now? Or is that reserved solely for Republicans trying to make political hay?

By the way, Mr. Perry, you've hitched your political wagon to a sinking anchor. How long will it be before Mr. Perry decides that Mr. "Noun, Verb, 9/11" is no longer a real Republican?
