Stage Employees Union Endorses Clinton
Source: AFL-CIO Blog

by Seth Michaels, Dec 11, 2007

The Theatrical Stage Employees union (IATSE) has endorsed Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) for president in the 2008 campaign.

The union, which represents more than 100,000 members in the motion picture, theatrical and television professions, is the 11th AFL-CIO-affiliated union to support Clinton.

IATSE President Thomas C. Short says Clinton has a record of strong support for working families:

Hillary Clinton’s ability to create real change for America’s working families is exactly what this country needs. She has the strength and experience to provide quality, affordable health care for every American and rebuild our middle class.

1. How many unions have endorsed Republicans?
Other than the Union of Oilmen, Financiers, Drug Manufacturers, and Arms Merchants.

3. How odd, they give a set of reasons that I do not expect her to be capable of achieving.

Me fears Madame's rhetoric and her record are two vastly different things, a lot akin to theatre, as a matter of opinion . . .
But then again, I am rather a Puritan, you know, anti-NAFTA, free trade, universal health care now, no holding up Ryan White until NY gets it old share when the epidemic has shifted to the SE and then saying that she wants Medicare for every person diagnosed HIV + yet never introducing such a bill into Congress.

Yes, rhetoric is often comforting, but it doesn't help bankrupt ADAP programs in SC and other southern states. That is why ADAP has to be deep sixed ASAP, in favor of Medicare for every HIV + person in the country. The new CDC guidelines call for drug intervention when the CD 4 reaches 350 vice the former 200, which is what ADAP pays for, i.e. only AIDS (CD4 < or = 200 or an opportunistic infection).

For some odd reason I take this issue personally, and candidates' record on the topic rather than their rhetoric matter tremendous more for we Latterday Lepers.
