Saudis: 208 arrested in different plots
Source: AP

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - More than 200 al-Qaida-linked suspects involved in different plots against the kingdom have been arrested in recent months in Saudi Arabia's largest anti-terrorism sweep to date, the Interior Ministry said Wednesday.

The ministry first reported the arrest of eight men, said to be linked to al-Qaida and allegedly planning to attack oil installations in the kingdom.

An Interior Ministry statement, carried by the Saudi Press Agency, said the eight were part of a terrorist cell led by a non-Saudi man, who was one of those arrested. The planned attacks were to take place in the eastern region of the country, which is home to Saudi's main oil resources.

The arrest of the eight "pre-empted an imminent attack on an oil installation," the statement said without naming the target or providing more details.

3. That's exactly what they're
trying to distract you from. That rape case is getting world-wide attention and the Saudi's don't like that one bit.

4. I don't have much faith these people are even guilty of a crime
However, I've become quite the cynic about such things anymore.

5. Depending where you live there are all sorts of "crimes"
like saying things your government doesn't want to hear, doing things your government would prefer you didn't, holding ideas your government doesn't agree with. They might have those sorts of crimes on their consciences, whatever else they may or may not be guilty of.

2. Sure stick the label al-Qaida on anyone who opposes the King and his Kingdom
Since all oil proceeds go to the King and his family, why should the citizens object to living in surfdom.

No opposition, just al-Qaida in the Kingdom.

6. With the crap that goes down in that county...
I expect it to collapse in about 5 years and get replaced by obvious nut jobs instead of morons* nut job friends.

7. How many of the 208 will be given a choice; life in a Saudi prison or
death as a martyr in Iraq ? Send them out to do a little demented damage and given the Saudi blessing
wtf
I think the odds of them being killed by Iraqi army/police rather then US GI's is going up every month
