Venezuela Chavez: CNN may be instigating my murder
Source: Reuters

CARACAS, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said on Wednesday CNN may have been instigating his murder when the U.S. TV network showed a photograph of him with a label underneath that read "Who killed him?"

The caption appeared to be a production mistake -- confusing a Chavez news item with one on the death of a football star. The anchor said "take the image down" when he realized.

But Chavez called for a probe in an interview on state television, where he repeatedly reviewed a tape of the broadcast, questioning why the unconnected photograph and wording were left on screen for several seconds.

"I want the state prosecutor to look into bringing a suit against CNN for instigating murder in Venezuela," he said. "... undoubtedly it is part of the psychological warfare."

1. Faux showed a pic of a fat girl who got kicked off a plane, confusing her with a victim of domestic
violence who had been murdered.

Chavez needs to get over himself. Sometimes a fuckup is just a fuckup.

4. Sometimes. But with Bushies and Nazis it is foolish to dismiss conspiracy
Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 08:41 AM by tom_paine
even a tacit conspriacy in which the Bushie PsyOp Person (one of several or perhaps several dozen) doesn't need a telephone call every time he inserts his "mistakes", just before airing.

The truth is, you might be correct and it might be a simple mistake. However, with Bushie and nazi monsters, it is invariably dangerous to take the same comforting attitude towards all of the ver convenient (for the Bushies) "mistakes", as we might have back in the old days when America was still free.

11. Who was it that said there are no mistakes?
That mistakes are just our true feelings showing through. And in this case we know what the true feelings of the American Corporate media is.

33. He also said sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
The guy who is 'responsible' for slapping the pics/banners up on the screen is NOT Roger Ailes or Rupert Murdoch. It's some poor tired union bastard who's probably trying to get enough overtime to buy his kid a Wii AND make the house payment at Xmas.

If it were Roger Ailes at that console, sure. But the bottom line is, the football player who got shot, and killed, at his back door in the wee hours of the morning, wore a RED jersey for his sports team, and we know that old Hugo favors them, too. The guy running the console pushed the wrong button, in a hurry, is all.

22. It is strange that the mistakes tend to go one way, though
Like when Faux Noise put a D after Foley's name, etc. It's like the way small plane crashes always seem to happen to Democrats. Statistically, it should have happened to a republican by now. Statistically CNN/Faux errors should happen to go against a conservative. The errors always seems to favor the right wing.

Is it that easy to swap labels on a graphic, or are they just that sloppy? Reminds me of Faux's mislabeling "accidents".

3. Normally I wouldn't agree with a guy like Chavez, but we have all seen
Fox "News" and it's repeat "mistakes", like labelling Bushie Child Molestor Foley a Democrat or "mistakenly" broadcasting to their Stormtrooper that Willian Jefferson was John Conyers.

Yeah, Bushies and Nazis ALWAYS make those "mistakes" and, gosh darn it, for soem reason they just keep making them.

CNN has as many Loyal Bushies as Fox, I believe, they just have a different job from Fox, and there are probably a handful of honest journalists there to lend Plausible Deniability, unlike Fox which is Bushie-Nazi to it's core and an overt engine of The Bushie Party.

So yes, I have no doubt that this "mistake" is like all other Bushie "mistakes", which is to say no mistake at all.

In this case, I believe Chavez' hyperbole.

I wonder if Venezuela is where the Bushies sent the Antrhax Assassin to cool off and stay out of the danger if any honest FBI agents couldn't be derailed by their Bushie Bosses.

19. DOD caught in 2000 placing PsyOps interns at CNN. No doubt some are still in deep cover.
Published on Thursday, March 23, 2000 in the San Jose Mercury News
The Military & CNN
by Alexander Cockburn

A handful of military personnel from the 4th Psychological Operations Group (i.e. PSYOPs) based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina have until recently been working in CNN's headquarters in Atlanta. An enterprising Dutch journalist named Abe De Vries came up with this important story in mid-February, and he remains properly astounded that no mainstream news medium in the United States has evinced any interest in the story.
I came across translations of De Vries' stories on the matter, after they had appeared in late February in Trouw, the foremost quality newspaper in Holland.

De Vries later told me he'd originally come upon the story via an article in the French Intelligence newsletter (available on a pay-per-story basis on the Internet) Feb. 17, which described a military symposium in Arlington, Va., held at the beginning of that same month, discussing use of the press in military operations.

Col. Christopher St. John, commander of the U.S. Army's 4th PSYOPs Group, was quoted by a French Intelligence correspondent, present at the symposium, as (in the correspondent's words) having ``called for greater cooperation between the armed forces and media giants. He (St. John) pointed out that some Army PSYOPs personnel had worked for CNN for several weeks, and helped in the production of some news stories for the network.''

23. Things that make you go hmmmm
This is why nothing should be dismissed as paranoid immediately.

These "errors" could well by psy-ops. Just the kind of thing they go in for with that. CNN, etc., have plenty of technology and are being broadcast nationally - dumb mistakes just don't fit in with that.

24. This is an excellent report on the story many of us were discussing in 2000.
You probably recall that exactly as the article says, it was almost completely muffled, once it DID finally get out:
Let's give the last word to the enterprising Abe De Vries. ``Of course, CNN says these PSYOPs personnel didn't decide anything, write news reports, etc. What else can they say? Maybe it's true, maybe not. The point is that these kind of close ties with the Army are, in my view, completely unacceptable for any serious news organization. Maybe even more astonishing is the complete silence about the story from the big media. To my knowledge, my story was not mentioned by leading American or British newspapers, nor by Reuters or AP.''

I know the U.S. Government IS trying to overthrow you. I don't doubt you. But this explanation seems very plausible. It's not like an Osama-Obama confusion issue, where it's happened a lot.

they mixed images up at the computer center...end of story.

35. yeah...but what does it gain him?
except more of the same. He also does thrive on the victim card, and while both him and Castro justifiably can wave it, sometimes, it looks petty when it's obvious that the incident at hand is an obvious mistake.

The excuse given makes a lot of sense and fits with the details of the incident. I think Hugo has a country and its problems to worry about.

Didn't you even note an earlier post referring to Colombia's President Alvaro Uribe's 6 hours spend discussing an assassination plot by people in his own government with Chavez?

Were you not aware of the forcible kidnapping of Hugo Chavez in April, 2004? Apparently you must have been deep in thought, attempting to come up with flippant remarks you could someday add to serious peoples' message boards.

34. "A great operation of psychological warfare is underway," President Hugo Chavez warned
when commenting that CNN in Spanish broadcast a photo of him with a label underneath that read "Who killed him?", which was on air for several seconds on Tuesday.

snip

Chavez said the CNN incidence was aimed at instigating his assassination, and warned the people against actions to cause anxiety and distress among the citizens, so he urged them to be calm and have "nerves of steel."
