EUROPEAN DEFENSE GROUP EADS SEES 20 PERCENT PROFIT JUMP THIS YEAR
PARIS, Jan 8 (AFP) - The European Aeronautic, Defense and Space company EADS said Thursday it foresaw a 20-percent jump in operating profit this year and stable sales compared with 2003.
Operating profit at EADS came to 1.4 billion euros (1.8 billion dollars).
The company based its 2004 forecast on gains in its space and military divisions but said it also took account of an expected decline in sales of Airbus civilian aircraft.
The news left investors skeptical and EADS shares were down 0.66 percent to 18.03 euros in mid-day trade on a generally stronger market here.
