Voters unhappy with Bush and Congress
Wed Oct 17, 2007 4:32pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Deepening unhappiness with President George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress soured the mood of Americans and sent Bush's approval rating to another record low this month, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

The Reuters/Zogby Index, which measures the mood of the country, also fell from 98.8 to 96 -- the second consecutive month it has dropped. The number of Americans who believe the country is on the wrong track jumped four points to 66 percent.

Bush's job approval rating fell to 24 percent from last month's record low for a Zogby poll of 29 percent. A paltry 11 percent gave Congress a positive grade, tying last month's record low.

"There is a real question among Americans now about how relevant this government is to them," pollster John Zogby said. "They tell us they want action on health care, education, the war and immigration, but they don't believe they are going to get it."

1. Zogby's pretty accurate.

Bush's ratings are still too high, IMO, if you figure 1 out of every 4 people you meet thinks he's doing a good job, unless you live in Utah, where that's almost reversed. Scary! Anyway, I'll take it.

Bush is still at Godlike status. And his ultimate asskisser, Congressman Ralph Hall, makes his home here. God help me. Oh, and Dan Bartlett graduated high school here with my brother's class in 89. Yuck!

13. I think 24% is about as low as you can go, considering how stupid those supporters must be

Who on earth with any sense supports f*ckn*ts these days? Every time I meet one, I just shake my head at their "rationale." You simple cannot change their simple minds.

3. The goal is 0% approval
The administration intends to take the government and public for all that it has in order to further its own agenda.

How many thieves are concerned about the approval rating of those that they rob? Their intent is not to leave some people happy or satisfy only a few. They want it all.

If nobody approves when they go out, they won their game.

6. If the Democrats think they are going to sweep the elections in '08,
without standing up to these guys, they are kidding themselves.

1) Bush and Cheney WANT to be punished.
They are like spoiled rich kids who have never been disciplined.
They will keep pushing their boundaries until the parents (congress) pushes back.
They have pushed the boundries into torture, next it will be WW III (which will suck).

2) It's time for the Reid and Pelosi to act like responsible parents and punish these out of control children.
I know it's not a fun job, but in the end it's healthier for both the children and the parents.

The Neocon Authoritarian follower types will fall in line behind congress (the parents) if they see congress acting like authority figures.
These people want us to discipline Bush and Cheney too.

10. Why do they blame Congress?
Congress had a bill on education and health care; Chimpy vetoed it.

How do they suppose Congress can end the war by itself, over Chimpy's veto?

As for immigration, that's just because that idiot Lou Dobbs has them thinking immigrants are responsible for everything. Next, he'll be blaming global warming on the U.S.'s undocumented immigrants. He's blamed them for everything else. As if people should always remain in their country of origin at all times or there's a "crisis."

18. We, the people, are disgusted with congress because...
For those of us that didn't already recognize the behavior, Oprah, Jerry Springer and all the others have educated even the most stupid among us: When an abused spouse (Congress) keeps going back to the monster (*) that beats them, always hoping that "this time it will be different", then gets beat again, we cringe at the stupidity. Especially after they do it five or six times.

We expect the abused spouse - the one we sat with, held and supported (Congress) - to take our advice (mandate), AS THEY PROMISED THEY WOULD, and END THE RELATIONSHIP.

They're taking a hit right along with Dumbya because they're enablers and continue to attempt negotiations with a bully who is never, ever going to give an inch.

Shrub is Lucy with a football and Congress is Charlie Brown.

22. Republicans disapprove of Congress because...
...the Congress is Democratic. Democratic disapproval of Congress is a complete mystery. Our Dem base has no brain. They backstabbed their own (admittedly lackluster) Congress. Dumb. Now Bush sits at 24%, and our Dem base has given him a welcome cushion. "I may be the worst president in history," Bush might say, "but the Democrats are even worse than me. Dick Cheney and I would like to thank the Democratic base. We couldn't hurt your Dem leaders politically, but you've done it for us."

21. If Congress simply impeached Cheneybush, their numbers would soar
It's a pity the Democrats are so spineless/intimidated/blackmailed/lame. If they could just start doing what they need to do in order to actively uphold their oaths of office, that is, impeach the Sithlords who've taken control of the executive branch, Congressional approval ratings would be in the 50s within a week.

24. “He will leave office the most hated President in our history.”
Gore Vidal predicted it. Bush doesn't even seem to care anymore - he just oozes a kind of stupid, incoherent arrogance whenever he "speaks" in public.
