Omaha mayor (Fahey D-Ne) says no to Senate run (Kleeb up next?)

Nebraska Democrats got another "no" today as Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey decided against running for the U.S. Senate.

Fahey, who's at the center of the city's effort to keep the College World Series, said he is committed to being Omaha's mayor for the next two years.

He also left open the door to seeking a third term in 2009.

"All the things I have on my plate, at this time, there are large items that need to be completed. And I didn't think it would be fair to the people who elected me, if I left in midstream to go campaign," Fahey said.
