One-third of voters in California for Clinton

Another third solidly against her in state, Field Poll indicates

Carla Marinucci, Chronicle Political Writer

New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton - more than any other 2008 candidate
for the White House - is seen through an intensely partisan lens by Californians,
with about a third of the state's voters already having decided they wouldn't
vote for her for president and another third decided they "definitely" would,
a Field Poll released Thursday showed.

The poll surveyed sentiment toward Clinton's campaign, including the effect
of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, on her race and her strengths
and weaknesses among different segments of the electorate in the nation's
most populous state.

The poll reflected many of Clinton's strengths, but it also underscored
what some Democrats say is a troubling aspect of her bid for the White
House - the intensity of feeling on both sides that her campaign appears
to incite.

<snip>

The new poll showed that 6 in 10 Democrats would definitely vote for her
in the general election and that two-thirds of Republicans would definitely
vote against her.

1. This was my comment to the comments request

"Look, her chief strategist is Mark Penn, of Burson-Marsteller fame. Google them. They specialize is representing true evil. She is Republican lite. The GOP know this. They want her because she will actually hand the GOP a win at best, or be a sychophant, at worst. People will continues to die with her in office. Coprorate America bought the GOP a long time ago and they have bought Clinton. That she flips and flops depending on the wind in proven. That she can't lead is proven. That she is a female is irrelevant. Any democrat who votes for her in the primaries is ignorant and a fool. Period."

I know I was a bit over the top, but I wanted to express the frustration that I and many of my friends have at normally progressive people buying into the clinton machine without thinking and researching.

Most of the comments were very much against Clinton. Methinks my home state of Calfornia is starting to pay attention.

2. I don't think that was at all over the top.
My progressive friends don't support her - the only person in my circle that does is a formerly Repblican former seminary student. Makes me wonder who all these 'progressive' Hillary supporters are.

3. She's likely to be just as polarizing as Shrub
but I don't think that's going to stop her juggernaut. The Repukes are unlikely to nominate someone who can excite a majority of their base, and even their "anybody but Hillary" meme is likely to fizzle.

We are looking at her being President, and the time to get her on the record is NOW, not after the first month of primaries and caucuses. At that point, she'll just flip into cruise control mode of her candidacy, and win by letting the other party self-destruct.

4. Her Juggernaut is an illusion caused by people doing what TV tells them to do
John Carpenter hit it right on the head in the movie They Live.

7. There are a few here in New Hampshire, BUT...

There are a few here in New Hampshire, but they mostly
tend to be on the cars of the party faithful: the elected
state representatives and the party hierarchy (which is
DLC to the core)). Hillary bumper stickers are rare
among the proletariat.

8. So I guess two-thirds of us will be cancelling each other's votes.
Who will the decisive other third vote for?

9. Nominate Her At Your Peril Democratic Party
I'm including myself in those who won't be voting next November, and if I do, I'll be writing in Al Gore's name.
