La. legislator Says FBI looking at Nagin, Jefferson
Source: AP via KATC-3 Acadiana, Louisiana

A state senator from a New Orleans suburb confirmed Wednesday that he is being investigated by the FBI, and claimed it may be because he has refused to provide information for investigations of Congressman William Jefferson and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.

Derrick Shepherd, D-Marrero, made the statement at a news conference Wednesday morning. Earlier this week, an FBI agent testifying in a court hearing, said Shepherd helped a convicted felon launder more than $140,000.

Shepherd denied any wrongdoing. And he said FBI agents visited his home months ago asking if he could provide evidence of wrongdoing by Jefferson or Nagin. Shepherd said he has no evidence of wrongdoing by either man.

Calls to an FBI spokeswoman were not immediately returned and the U.S. Attorney declined comment.

1. Oil companies really want a Republican rule in Louisiana?
Not suspicious or anything. Because BushCo isn't known for selective prosecution of Democrats, is it?

4. Don't know if you live in LA or not, but I do, & your thinking is in line with mine.
It takes gall to "clean house" (get rid of Democrats) when the U.S. Justice Dept. has shown its hand, but it appears that's what is in the works. I kid you not, but Jindal, one of the biggest rubberstampers for the boy king, announced that he was going to "clean up corruption". Will he start with Vitter? :sarcasm:

7. Jindal is a fraud. He voted agains every single thing that would
benefit ordinary people like reducing the student loan interest rate and raising the minimum wage. He is a fake Christian, a corporate shill, and voted with Bushco 99 percent of the time, even when it harmed his state.

8. I've looked at various LA chat sites reading posts that defend him tooth & nail...
but NOT ONE of them could answer the question, "What has Bobby Jindal done for Louisiana?"

5. That's what I'm thinking, too.
I also think we don't hear a lot about Congressman Jefferson's alleged 'scandal' is because his was a 'sting'. He was set up to take a fall unlike the scandalous Republiks, who dicked around with Abramhoff and Cunningham all on their own. I am so sick and tired of the corruption factor in Washington D.C.

9. I think Jefferson got caught up in a sting, too. The Abramoff scandal was going on, & the Repugs in
Congress were making a big show of "defending" him in regard to his office files being seized by the FBI.

6. Nagin is corrupt and he supported Bush. He harms the very
people he is supposed to support. He is behind the not allowing people back in projects that were perfectly safe. His developement republican buds want the land. What a hypocrit.

10. Morial wanted the projects closed, too. The idea was to relocate the residents
into neighborhoods throughout South LA. Now, whether his intentions are the same as Nagin's, I don't know. I'm with you about Nagin -- he's for business only.
