Rice admits errors on Arar
Source: The Globe and Mail

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice admitted Wednesday that errors were made in the handling of Maher Arar's case.

“We do not think this case was handled as it should have been,” Ms. Rice told a subcommittee of the House foreign relations committee.

“Our communication with the Canadian government about this was by no means perfect. In fact, it was quite imperfect” she said.

But Ms. Rice stopped short of agreeing with the commission of inquiry findings of Justice Dennis O'Connor, who found Mr. Arar had been tortured in Syria after being deported by the Americans based on false RCMP conclusions that he was a terrorist.
