Bush wants staff to help investigators trying to uncover source of leak

St. Louis-AP -- President Bush has directed his staff to cooperate with investigators looking into the leak of a C-I-A operative's name.

The probe is trying to determine whether an administration official leaked the name.

White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan tells reporters in St. Louis that it's important the White House staff do everything it can "to preserve the integrity of the investigation and not compromise it."

But he didn't say whether Bush will ask staffers to release reporters from confidentiality agreements -- which could persuade them to disclose their confidential sources.
