September's surprise: Prices at pump soar post-holiday
Source: Indianapolis Star

Motorists made it through Labor Day weekend with gasoline under $3 a gallon. But on Tuesday prices jumped well above that threshold at stations across the Indianapolis area.

Some stations were charging as much as $3.19 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas, the highest level in the metro area since May 26 when prices reached a record average of $3.536, according to AAA.

... Monday's average was $2.88, according to AAA.

2. I filled my 20 gallon tank today with required premium gas. Over $70.
A new notice had appeared on the SuperAmerica gas pumps... Visa limit $50, Mastercard limit $75... this is not our store's policy, but the policy of the credit card companies.

Paying at the pump with stolen credit cards is obviously going to be a big, big problem.

3. I think somebody is being gouged again
for the gas here in western pa is about $2.70/gallon. This administration won't do anything about it because they see it as business as usual in screwing the American people over and over and over and over again.

in ten years we will remember these as the days of cheap gas.

Extreme gas prices may be the one of the few things that get the apathetic masses onto their feet and into the streets!

Wait until food gets 20 or 30 percent higher...

:shudder:

11. Food is higher here in CAL,
because of the minumum-wage hikes, and the fucking treasury department wont stop printing our already devalueing dollar.

(Before you get mad about the min-wage, its the absolute truth, at least for fast food.)

12. Sorry, but
I saw the increase in food before minimum wage went up. I'm sure some increases will further follow due to minimum wage because employers pass along costs, but it doesn't compare to what the gas/oil costs are doing to it all because that hits every aspect of business and consumers while these oil companies are making huge super profits that are unchecked.

13. In 2004 I was spending approx. $175 per month, now
it's closer to $275. That's a 36% increase in my small town.

I insulated my house, but the financial savings from the cut in usage, by around 40%, was offset by all of the rate increases. Argh!

And it isn't over...

8. I was not surprised.
I'm never surprised when the most favored industry in America is allowed to reach deeper into my pocket, not ever. However, those are my soles they're touching now. That's about far enough.

10. I was half expecting to see it rise here
after everyone was saying it went up where they are, but it hasn't budged yet. More specifically I'm near Pittsburgh btw. I am of course saying of the typical low point I've seen the gas at without going to extremes looking for stations that may be in war in with each other or specials that ocassionally crop up. You can very well find stations charging more, but I find 3 stations with differing companies close by at $2.699/gal. There was one even at $2.679/gal too within that same range, but I have not seen any above $2.80/gal in that same radial area.
