Colombian Radio Journalist Murdered
By BRIDGET WHELAN 09.05.07, 2:33 PM ET

BOGOTA, Colombia - A radio station director was found stabbed to death at his home Wednesday in western Colombia.

Javier Dario Arroyave was killed in the town of Cartago, the base of Colombia's most powerful cocaine cartel, but authorities said there was no immediate evidence of a connection between the attack and his work.

The police commander in the area, Col. Ricardo Restrepo, said Arroyave, 40, was stabbed three times and likely died early Wednesday. He said there were no signs of a break-in at the home, but that Arroyave's computer was missing.

Colombia remains one of the most dangerous countries for journalists, with 40 murdered since 1992, according to the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists. A majority of the killers are never found.

2. Do you mean there's a chance Chavez killed the journalist? What murders has Chavez committed?
Please post any links you've got. You'd be doing everyone a favor.

By the way, the Colombian government, which is right-wing, has a grotesque human rights record. You might want to check on it.
