Coming months key to U.S. troop levels in Iraq: general

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The next three to four months
will be vital to determine if violence in Iraq can be cut
further and security maintained with fewer American
troops, the number two U.S. military commander in Iraq
said on Tuesday.

Lieutenant-General Raymond Odierno said the last week
had seen the lowest number of violent incidents against
civilians and security forces across Iraq in the past
15 months.

"I think the next three to four months is critical," said
Odierno, head of day-to-day U.S. military operations
in Iraq.

"I think if we can continue to do what we are doing,
we'll get to such a level where we think we can do it
with less troops," Odierno told a small group of foreign
reporters at a U.S. military base near Baghdad airport.

and how many damn more times are we going to? I'm just disgusted with the whole mess, the lying bloodthirsty maniacs, their spineless enablers inside the beltway, the so called opposition party that keeps wondering why * and his cronies say such bad things about them since they roll over every damn time, the mainstream press that offers either empty 'inside baseball' analysis (is the attempt to sell the surge working?) or mindless parrots whatever they are told (President says surge is working). I'm disgusted with the whole corrupt scene where principles are for suckers and the rule of law only applies to outsiders.

I have to say times like this makes me wish there was a bastille to storm somewhere.

Yes, the number of events has declined.
BUT, the number of dead and wounded has steadily increased.
Fewer attacks, more death...sounds like the "insurgents" are just becoming more efficient.
