Iraq's Maliki Lashes Out At Hillary Clinton
By REUTERS

Filed at 9:48 a.m. ET

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki lashed out on Sunday at U.S. Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton who had called for him to be replaced and criticized the U.S. military for killing civilians.

"There are American officials who consider Iraq as if it were one of their villages, for example Hillary Clinton and Carl Levin," Maliki told a news conference.

"This is severe interference in our domestic affairs. Carl Levin and Hillary Clinton are from the Democratic Party and they must demonstrate democracy," he said. "I ask them to come to their senses and to talk in a respectful way about Iraq."
..........

Maliki also criticized the U.S. military for killing civilians during raids in Shi'ite neighborhoods in Baghdad, which have provoked demonstrations by mourners and condemnation from Shi'ite groups.

1. The more Hillary speaks the more I am dismayed with her views on Iraq
She,as the other leading Democratic candidates believe there will need to be some prescence of the U.S. for some time.

Now she is simply jumping behind Warner who is blaming the Iraq problems on the Iraqiis, specifically al-Maliki, a government the people of Iraq elected

I would like to remind these Senators WHO VOTED FOR THE IWR, that WE invaded THEIR country. I would also like to gently remind them, that Iraq did NOT have anything to do with 9/11, had no WMDs, and were NOT an immeniate threat to us or the world

I would also like to remind EVERYONE, that the killing stopped in Viet Nam when WE LEFT

Viet Nam, another war based on a LIE

4. Wanting To Support Her
I want to support Hillary. But comments like this make me reassess my options.

Going into Iraq, killing their people, setting up circumstances in which they are maimed and many must leave their homes, is bad enough. But calling for the ouster of a man who became leader because the US staged a voting process in which Iraqis actually came to polls and voted in an election is just...too arrogant and stupid.

So what...the US declares Iraq a colony and sets up a government? No wonder they are fighting.

5. i do think the leaders are squablling on and on----maybe the real problem
was that many in the US---and in IRaq believed they could solve thousands of years of problems in a few short years (expectations were too high).

3. Funny how ...
... Maliki chooses to criticize only the Democratic members of Congress, when it's the GOP-led consulting firm that's getting paid the big bucks to trash Maliki in favor of Allawi.

That important detail seems to be missing from this report. I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked.

Angry Iraqi leader lashes out at Clinton

By QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 3 minutes ago

BAGHDAD - Iraq's beleaguered prime minister on Sunday lashed out at Democrats who have called for his ouster, saying Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Carl Levin need to "come to their senses."

Nouri al-Maliki, who is fighting to hold his government together, issued a series of stinging ripostes against a variety of foreign officials who recently have spoken negatively about his leadership. But those directed at Democrats Clinton, of New York, and Levin, of Michigan, were the most strident.

"There are American officials who consider Iraq as if it were one of their villages, for example Hillary Clinton and Carl Levin. They should come to their senses," al-Maliki said at a news conference.

Al-Maliki launched the verbal counteroffensive in the final days before the American commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, and U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker are due in Washington to report to Congress on progress in Iraq since the introduction of 30,000 more America troops.

The Shiite prime minister said a negative report by Petraeus would not cause him to change course, although he said he expected that the U.S. general would "be supportive of the government and will disappoint the politicians who are relying on it" to be negative.

15. Hey people, those senators called for the Iraqi Parliament to replace Maliki
Not for a coup or for an appointment.

One could read Maliki's urge to respect democracy as an urge to respect President Bush's foreign policy choices and to shut the hell up. Because that's what he expects of people in his country.

16. HUH?
Funny how this clown ONLY blasts Democrats huh? In the article I read there are SEVERAL republicans blasting this very same message yet this asshat NEVER blasts them. hmm didn't think there were any Iraqi republicans but I guess this just proves this is a Bush puppet regime NO MATTER IF they (the Iraqi people) SUPPOSEDLY voted him in. Now he did make a feeble comment On what Bush had said but the real attacks were ONLY on the Dems who are critical of him. Why is that? HMMMMMM??????

He should be careful because she might be President and he might need her.
