Baghdad baby rescued from garbage

BAGHDAD, Iraq (Reuters) -- In the nine months since she was born, tiny Fatima Jubouri first lost her father, then gunmen killed her mother and uncle and she was left alone and uncared for in a pile of garbage in Baghdad.

Fatima Jubouri was rescued, malnourished and dehydrated, hidden under rubbish in a violent area of Baghdad.

Police found Fatima, malnourished and suffering from dehydration in Iraq's scorching summer heat, hidden under rubbish in one of southern Baghdad's most violent districts.

"She is a baby -- she is happiness in a bad place," said Lieutenant Beth Brauchli, the hospital's acting public affairs officer.

2. This is a BABY - thrown away with the trash
I wonder what is going to happen to this poor child? What are they doing in Iraq with the orphaned children? Is there a charity to help them, or would that be "helping the enemy?". :banghead:

3. I saw a report on one of the news channels.
Her siblings are in an orphanage and she will join them once she's completely healthy.

It was obvious that she is receiving excellent care and lots and lots of attention from the personnel at the hospital where she is being treated.

I don't suppose that the Iraqis would allow orphans to be adopted by U.S. families. My guess is that this little girl could find a nice home here.
