Chief federal judge too drunk to remember night at strip club
Source: 9News

DENVER – Court documents obtained by 9Wants to Know show Colorado's top federal judge was too drunk to remember how he spent more than $3,000 at a strip club in two consecutive days.

He also used an Internet dating service while he was married.

Judge Edward Nottingham is the chief federal judge in Colorado and he is held to the highest standards of personal and professional conduct.

This is the same judge that sentenced Nacchio.

Hypothetically - if he were to judge drunks and drug addicts needing help instead of prison - would it make him look like a big hypocrite?

Just wondering...

1. I hate it when that happens.

From the great W. C. Fields movie, The Bank Dick:

Fields: "Was I in here last night, and did I spend a 20 dollar bill?"
Shemp: "Yeh!"
Fields: "Boy, is that a load off my mind. (chuckles) I thought I'd lost it!"

The first article which popped up in a search revealed a strange decision he made:
The Telemarketing Judge

Update: The Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals has suspended Judge Nottingham's order declaring telemarketer's "do not call lists" unconsittutional while it considers the validity of the ruling.

All that, and brilliant, too! Or maybe not.

Federal judge 'ashamed' of actions
Strip club outing revealed in divorce

By Rocky Mountain News
August 10, 2007
U.S. District Judge Edward Nottingham's marriage ended after his wife discovered more than $3,000 in receipts from a Denver strip club, 9News reported Thursday.
9News said the information is contained in transcripts it obtained of the divorce proceedings of Nottingham and Marcie Jaeger in Eagle County last month.

Nottingham, the chief federal judge in Colorado, was asked to account for the expenditures.

"I'm ashamed and mortified just telling you that is the Diamond Cabaret . . . a topless establishment," he testified.

Nottingham also said he could not recall how he could have spent so much money at the strip club.

"I had had a lot to drink . . . and I don't remember," he said, according to the transcript.

9. He probably doesn't remember receiving any telemarketer calls.
But I wonder what they get him to buy when he's really on a binge. ;-)

10. I have learned he has been leading a TRIPLE life. He not only has been a wild and crazy judge,
he also has been "PAULIE WALNUTS!"

Better than being the OTHER Republican we learned this week was found wearing a skirt, urinating in front of children outside, and, when approached by cops, solicited unexpected public acts from them!

7. What about violations of probations or parole
based on drinking/drugs? There are things that may be unrelated, but still related at the same time...

8. Don't see that he did anything illegal per se
But for some reason, I think federal judges and attorneys general should be able to observe a slightly higher standard of conduct than John Dillinger.
