Iraqi Oil Ministry: No dealing with unions
Source: UPI

WASHINGTON, July 31 (UPI) -- Iraq's Oil Ministry has directed all its agencies and departments not to deal with the country's oil unions.

The unions and Iraq's government, especially the prime minister and oil minister, have been at odds for months now over working conditions and the draft oil law.

The unions went on strike in early June and are threatening to stop production and exports again if demands are not met. The unions claim the oil law, if approved by Parliament, will give foreign oil companies too much access to the oil. The unions enjoy enormous support, especially in the south of Iraq.

"The Minister has directed the prohibition of cooperation with any member of any union in any of the committees organized under the name of the Union as these unions do not enjoy any legal status to work inside the government sector," Laith Abd Al Hussein AL Shahir, the ministry's general director, wrote in a July 18 letter obtained by UPI.

3. Is Ahmad Chalabi still the head of that ministry?
If so, it explains a WHOLE lot.

4. Nothing good will come from this.
OTOH, I experienceda brief moment of compassion for the Maliki puppet government in Iraq.
Talk about between a rock and a hard place.

On one hand, Bush/Republicans/Congressional Democrats/ Pentagon/ Global Oil Companies are all DEMANDING that these puppets pass a law that privatizes a Iraqi resource and gives 80% of the Iraqi Oil Fields to BIG OIL ASAP!!!!

On the other hand, if these puppets knuckle under to bush, the Iraqi People will go all Mussolini on them and string them up to a lightpost.

No wonder these puppets are dragging their feet. I hope they enjoy their 30 pieces of silver, cause the Iraqi People are going to get their pound of flesh, probably sooner than later.

This is why Hillary has pledged to stay in Iraq indefinately....to protect these assholes from the Iraqi People, and protect the Oil Law for Big Oil.

Does anyone know what happened to the puppet Vichy government in France when Germany was forced to withdraw?

6. Interesting, this is the one law from Saddam's time that the CPA and the 'new' Iraq did not overturn
Saddam was an enemy of the unions in Iraq and in the 'new' Iraq, the unions are still being treated like the enemy.
