(Telluride) Town Council: Impeach Bush
Source: Daily Planet

TELLURIDE, Colo. - Taking a step into national politics, the Telluride Town Council passed an ordinance yesterday calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

The ordinance says that Bush and Cheney violated the public trust and knowingly harmed the United States and Colorado.

The measure passed easily, 6-1. Several Telluriders pleaded passionately about the need to get rid of a duo that has lied, tortured, and spied on Americans. No one spoke out against it, nor did anyone defend the administration.

(snip)

It appears that Telluride is the first community in Colorado to call for impeachment. A vote in the town of Nederland ended up tied.

2. Good for them!
I used to love Telluride, still do but it is different now. It seems that the people are still the way they used to be though.

Wow, their paper has changed as well! I used to get it mailed to me. Anyway, good for them I am pleased to read this.

3. Wow!
I guess it shouldn't surprise me though, with Bushcos popularity slip-sliding away.

4. I love telluride...
There is a huge sign in town that says your "Civil liberties are protected in Telluride -- we oppose the Patriot Act", or something similar to that.

I just got back from my 4th Telluride Bluegrass Fest last month. It's a magical place!

5. Also, electric vehicles get to park anywhere for free
I'm not a big fan of the town in general (too rich for my blood), but it gets a few things right.

6. It's very rich...
which is unfortunate, in many ways, because many of the locals who work in town can't afford to live there. :|

10. UPDATE: Town faces backlash
Scores of travelers swear they’re never coming back

TELLURIDE - Just a day after the Telluride Town Council passed a citizen initiative calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney, town officials said they were feeling a backlash.

(snip)

The Letters to the Editor section of this newspaper has been brimming with angry letters from people who claim the town is out of touch with everything except its own navels and rectums. One Texan even seemed to threaten military action.

(snip)

But semi-boycotts are nothing new in Telluride. Every year as Gay Ski Week approaches, McQuade gets “hundreds” of e-mails from conservative-minded families who swear they’re not coming to town because they don’t want their children “exposed” to the “gay lifestyle.”

Oddly, a handful of gay-friendly travelers have threatened to boycott Telluride after hearing about the “Straight Pride” joke float on the Fourth of July. Which makes Telluride one of the few towns to be boycotted both by gays and by conservative Christians, virtually at the same time.

....
