Car bomb near Iranian embassy in Baghdad leaves 8 casualties

Baghdad, Jul 17, (VOI) – Four people were killed and four others wounded when a car rigged with explosives went off near the Iranian embassy building close to Baghdad's fortified green zone, an Iraqi police source said on Tuesday.

"The explosion also set ablaze a number of vehicles in a garage off the Iranian embassy," the security source, who refused to have his name mentioned, told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

Earlier on Tuesday an eyewitness told VOI that plumes of smoke rose from a location near the Iranian embassy in Baghdad's Karradat Maryam neighborhood."

"Security forces and ambulances rushed to the scene and sealed off the area. Nothing has been revealed yet about casualties or financial losses," he said.
