Clark criticizes Bush on campaign stop in
Jackson
Associated Press

JACKSON, Miss. - Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark
told about 100 people here Monday that he shares their values of
patriotism, faith and family.

The retired Army general, on his two-day, eight-state, 10-city trip
"True Grits" tour to try to attract Southern voters, also criticized
President Bush.

"Our president, before 9-11, didn't do his job. He didn't do
everything he could to keep our country safe from terrorism and
then he sent our troops over to Iraq to distract us from the fact
that he doesn't have Osama bin Laden yet," Clark said.

Clark said he never would have sent troops to Iraq, but now that
Americans are there, "we're going to do the right thing, we're
going to make it a success."

The article mentions a little girl who fainted at his Little Rock event earlier this morning. At Jackson, he said it turns out she has epilepsy, but her insurance does not cover the medicine/treatment she needs. He said that when he is President, that will be one of the first things he takes care of.

1. repeat this over and over
"Our president, before 9-11, didn't do his job. He didn't do
everything he could to keep our country safe from terrorism and
then he sent our troops over to Iraq to distract us from the fact
that he doesn't have Osama bin Laden yet," Clark said.

We need to keep hammering that point home. That used to be the news media's job, but it's up to us now.

4. Exactly, exactly, exactly.
ALL our candidates should repeatedly, repeatedly, repeatedly attack the failed Bush administration for being asleep at the switch on 9/11, for standing down the Osama watch, for diverting scarce military and intel resources from hunting Bin Forgotten to send them to the strategic blunder of a war in Iraq.

ALL our candidates!

How fast are your wheels? He was running a little behind this am, due to weather.

6. LOL! Not fast enough to make the birmingham event....
I'm only about an hour and a half north of NO, but I don't think I could have made that one either. LOL.

7. Clark Speech
I was there. Gulf Coast Representative Gene Taylor spoke first with surprisingly acerbic Bush criticism. He said he told Bush pre-Iraq that if we invaded, we would be there 10 years. Bush ignored him of course. After a few more words, Taylor introduced Clark whom he has apparently known for quite a while. They both mentioned Panama and NATO as former connections to each other.

Gene was also critical of Bush for not protesting to the TV networks for allowing the F word recently. Said he had received 3,000 constituent letters complaining about this.

One person yelled early in Clark's speech something pro-confederate flag. Crowd booed. Clark said he would address that question later. Later, in listing his values, one of which was patriotism, Clark hoisted an American flag and said he supported the American flag, not the Confederate flag. Crowd cheered.

10. Thanks for the good account, Gem
I like Taylor very much. He is one of the most direct members of the House of Representatives. I don't think I've ever heard him say anything -- whether I agreed with him or not -- that I didn't feel completely sure he really believed. And he has made some very pointed remarks on the House floor about the autocratic way the repugs run the institution.

11. Taylor looked really good.
I loved hearing him in the House putting the whup ass on Republicans for underfunding important programs while giving huge tax cuts to fat cats.

Fat cats, I say.

And he's a friend to vets and military families, the kind of rep who walks the walk.

9. Isn't it ironic
Clark was the person the other candidates were saying only recently decided to become a democrat, but Clark is the only one who is criticizing the republicans. All the others are criticizing fellow democrats. Does anything make sense anymore? The republicans criticize the democrats, the democrats criticize the democrats ... Up until now I thought we really had a good group of candicates to choose from, but the last couple of weeks has become nothing more than petty tit-for-tat. They are defeating themselves. I wish they would work so hard to defeat this administration. I think if we get Lieberman out of there the others will mellow out, but he seems to be instigating it. He is so damn worthless is it pathetic.
