Published: June 23, 2007

DETROIT, June 22 — The Delphi Corporation, the big auto supplier, reached a tentative agreement today with its unionized workers that will help it emerge from bankruptcy protection by cutting wages and benefits.

Members of the United Automobile Workers union are expected to vote next week on the deal, which comes about a month before the U.A.W. is scheduled to begin negotiations on a new contract with Detroit’s automakers. Delphi did not release details of the deal today; workers will gather Monday at their plants to find out how they will be affected.

$12.50 an hour? This is outrageous. Did the CEO's take any pay cut? Whose shitty business decisions led them into bankruptcy in the first place? It's a race to the bottom for the middle class in this country. I'm afraid we're almost there.
