US concern at 'Iran Afghan arms'

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates has said "substantial" quantities of Iranian weapons are finding their way into Afghanistan.

Speaking on a visit to Germany, Mr Gates said it was difficult to believe the Iranian government was unaware, given the scale of arms involved.

Washington has recently expressed growing concern about Iran's involvement with its eastern neighbour.

Iran has denied accusations it is helping arm Taleban insurgents.

Mr Gates' comments follow those of Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns, who told reporters that the weapons were coming from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

1. And what of it!? The word is the Iraqis aren't given weapons, they're sold.

So presumably this is bought with opium money, an act made possible by the US' setting the stage for a truly gargantuan expansion of opium production. So various Iranian commanders are making some good money arming the US' enemies. Capitalism in action. What of it?

Get serious! Who ISN'T selling arms? All the countries of the world are shopping their wares for the highest buck. It's capitalism. That's what good old capitalism is good for. Doesn't matter if it's to the good guy, the bad guy, the mass murderers....if it GETS THE BIG BUCKS!!....it's all fair!
